Jessica Alba, Cindy Crawford, and Rachel Zoe attended the grand opening of the Diane von Furstenberg: Woman Before Fashion exhibit on Tuesday night (October 15) held at Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Other stars in attendances included Lauren Sanchez, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star Lana Condor, Pretty Little Liars actress Sasha Pieterse, and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer along with Diane‘s daughter-in-law Alexandra Von Furstenberg.

“Organized in four thematic sections, Diane von Furstenberg: Woman Before Fashion includes a selection of over sixty pieces drawn from the Dvf archives along with ephemera, fabric swatches, media pieces, and information on her philanthropic work,” according to the Skirball’s website.

The exhibit will be open from October 17 through August 31, 2025.

However, the distinction between von Furstenberg’s sleek, form-fitting design and the movie’s run-of-the-mill aesthetic is that while both approaches are in wider conversation with their respective art forms, von Fustenberg’s (re)invention went against society’s grain in its reclamation of femininity, while the visual approach from directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton remains shackled to age-old ideas of what a documentary ought to be.

Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal doesn’t follow a North Star as she and her team sift through tens of thousands of submissions each year. But as they whittle down those applicants to the 100 or so films comprising the final lineup, themes tend to emerge.

“It’s not like we set out to say, ‘This is what we want to do.’ As an activist film festival, we always look for [political] films,” says Rosenthal, who created Tribeca Festival with Robert De Niro in the wake of 9/11. “This year, there’s a mental health narrative. Lily Gladstone, Kristen Stewart, Jenna Ortega and Michael Cera are among the stars whose latest films will premiere at this year's Tribeca Festival in New York City. The festival will run from June 5 to 16 and open with documentary Diane von Furstenberg: Woman In Charge, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton.

The programme features 103 feature films, including 86 world premieres. The films represent 48 countries and were chosen from a record-breaking 13,016 submissions. Among them is Michael Angarano's Sacramento, featuring Stewart and Cera, and Morrisa Maltz's Jazzy, which features Gladstone.

Half of the films in competition are directed by women and 35% of all feature films are directed by Bipoc filmmakers. There are 30 films directed by first-time filmmakers and 25 directors are making their return to the annual event.

The 23rd edition of the Tribeca Festival is out with its slate of feature films including world premieres starring Kristen Stewart, Lily Gladstone and Jenna Ortega. Another high-profile title is Saving Casa Bonita, a new documentary about South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone restoring an iconic Colorado restaurant.

Stewart toplines Sacramento, a road trip comedy directed by Michael Angarano and also starring Michael Cera and Maya Erskine. Jazzy with Gladstone and Jasmine Bearkiller Shangreaux is a companion piece to 2023 indie drama The Unknown Country, in which Gladstone appeared just prior to her Oscar-nominated performance in Killers Of The Flower Moon. Ortega stars in director Tiffany Paulsen’s romantic drama Winter Spring Summer or Fall alongside Marisol Nichols, Percy Hynes White and Adam Rodriguez.

The documentary lineup, long a Tribeca strength, will feature comedy greats politically tinged pics ahead of the U.S.

The Berlin Film Festival today unveiled the first titles set for the 2024 edition of its Panorama sidebar section. Scroll down for the full list of titles announced today.

The lineup includes eleven titles, seven of which are world premieres. A total of 16 countries have been involved in their production. The fest said the topics connecting the titles are rebellion and antiheroes.

Among the set is Nora Fingscheidt’s The Outrun, centered around antihero Rona, played by Saoirse Ronan, who has to go on a long journey to find herself: after years of excess in London, she seeks silence and self-reflection in her Scottish homeland. The film also stars Paapa Essiedu.

Requiring intense planning, expensive materials and an army of builders, the use of a rotating set - essentially an ordinary stage suspended within a steel gimbal, like a shoebox wedged in a washing machine drum - has been used to occasional yet jaw-dropping effect over the past 60 years.

What got you started?

A toga. I'd lost regular employment as a cartoon animator, so some friends who were doing crowd work on films told me to come and join them on a film called Caesar and Cleopatra. I was dressed up in a toga, given a spear and gold sandals, and stood with 2,000 others. Later, the director approached me, and asked whether I would consider training to be an actor.

Who or what have you sacrificed for your art?

Sometimes I've had to put myself on a diet. For Bond, I had to lose at least a stone or two. It was quite painful.
