Tom uses a pair of scissors to cut the wire to the radio while it is still plugged in - but Tom never receives a shock.
As the bear approaches Toms house, only 1 window shows a beam of light shining thru the window outside even though there are lights on in 2 windows.
Tom tries to call the authorities more than once, but since he can't talk, and caller ID and 911 are not available, he cannot tell them about the bear.
