General Hospital (Gh) fans mourn the loss of another star. Actress Janis Paige passed away in her L.A. home at the age of 101. Gh’s Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) posted on X/Twitter about it, stating, “Rip to Janis Paige. Had the pleasure of working with her on a couple of soaps. She always had a story or two and I relished them!” He added a lovely photo of Paige in her younger years, to the tweet.

Paige, who was discovered in the 1940s while performing at the legendary Hollywood Canteen, died Sunday of natural causes at her home in Los Angeles, her friend Stuart Lampert announced.

The highly discussed music limited series “The Idol” is set to premiere on Max on June 4. Starring Lily-Rose Depp, pop singer The Weeknd, and Dan Levy, the show involves a rising pop star Jocelyn (played by Depp) who gets involved with Tedros (The Weeknd), a sleazy nightclub owner who may also be a cult leader. She wants a rock career, while he’s focused on exploiting everyone he meets.

"Que será, sera," Doris Day sang her iconic, underplayed ode to fortune, "whatever will be, will be." The Hollywood icon died of pneumonia on Monday, May 14, at the age of 97, according to The Doris Day Animal Foundation, via Variety. The singer and actress who defined the girl next door died early at her home in Carmel Valley, California.

Day made over thirty films, including Tea for Two, On Moonlight Bay, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, David Butler’s 1953 film Calamity Jane and The Pajama Game, and over 600 recordings. The funny, sunny blonde with the perky disposition, a sprinkle of freckles and a dazzling smile started off as a big band singer whose first hit was 1945’s “Sentimental Journey” with Les Brown & his Band of Renown. She would record more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967, making her one of the biggest-selling recording artists of the 20th century, and was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 20008.

But the former Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff would make an even bigger splash as a star on the silver screen in a series of romantic comedies opposite Rock Hudson — who would become a lifelong friend — starting with 1959’s “Pillow Talk,” the source of her only Oscar nomination, along with 1961’s “Lover Come Back” and 1964’s “Send Me No Flowers.

"Legend" and "Icon" and "Classic" are all overused words in showbiz prose, and we're as guilty of anyone at letting those words fly out with abandon. But they're nothing like overstatements when it comes to the career of Doris Day, one of the 20th Century's most beloved and successful stars. She began her career as a teenage big band singer and nine years later debuted on the big screen in her most regular genre, the romantic comedy (with or without songs) via Busby Berkeley's Romance on the High Seas (1948).

She was an instant hit with audiences but it took a few more years for her true classics to emerge...

When teenager Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff sang along to Ella Fitzgerald on the radio, the Cincinnati native could never have predicted that, as Doris Day, she would go on to become one of the 20th century’s most beloved performers, first as a vocalist, then as an actress and then finally as an outspoken champion for the rights of animals.

But it was those radio sing-alongs that inspired Alma Welz Kappelhoff to send her daughter to a vocal coach, and by the time Doris was 17, she was singing for bandleader Barney Rapp, who convinced her to change her name to a more marquee-friendly length.

Day would go on to sing for the likes of Jimmy James and Bob Crosby, but it was her collaboration with Les Brown and His Band of Renown in the late 1940s that would rocket her to national stardom with hits like “Sentimental Journey” and “‘Till the End of Time.

As a singer, Doris Day had a warm voice that captivated millions of post-war record-buyers. As an actress, she was a top box office attraction and her name became shorthand for nearly all 1960s romantic comedies: “It’s a Doris Day kind of film.” As a personality, she was loved by the public as a freckle-faced, common-sense gal who seemed like a lot of fun.

Privately, her life was peppered with divorces, tales of spousal abuse, bankruptcy and even connections to the Manson family. The difference between reality and her image were night and Day, so to speak. But it was a very different time. The public didn’t want to hear about the darkness; they just loved her sunniness. And that’s what fans will continue to remember.

She started out as the “girl singer” in the Big Band era, and the song “Sentimental Journey” in 1945 put her on the map.

As Ash's best friend Chet Kaminski, Ted Raimi turned in a scene-stealing performance with equal amounts of humor and heart on the Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead, but the actor also had the epic opportunity to reprise his role as a possessed Henrietta from Evil Dead 2. With the second season coming to an end, we caught up with Ted to talk about playing both roles on the series, filming the cabin cellar rematch between Henrietta and Ash, and his upcoming feature film directorial debut. Swiss Army Man became an instant sensation at the Sundance Film Festival thanks to the film's offbeat dark humor, and the new red band trailer hints at some of the breakout gross-out movie's more infamous sequences, from Daniel Radcliffe's farting corpse to the dead man's compass-like erection. "I think your wang is guiding us home. It's magic," Paul Dano's character tells his deceased buddy.

The film's plot boils down to a broken man living in the wilderness (Dano) and his unnatural, possibly imagined interactions with the Harry Potter star's semi-reanimated dead body.

Legendary songstress and screen star Doris Day turns 92 on Sunday, but she tells People she doesn't think about her age. "I'm not really fond of birthdays anymore," she tells People in an exclusive statement. "Age is just a number. How you feel and live your life is more important." Day will spend the day surrounded by a few close friends and her beloved pets. While she spends her time quietly these days in Carmel, California, Day told People in a rare 2011 interview: "I love life. I have my pets around me and good friends. I'm young at heart and I love to laugh.

These days there's a pill for everything: headache, heartache, heart conditions, and, of course, hard-ons. Pretty Woman celebrates its 25th anniversary today and Richard Gere has spoken about the "magic" of the romantic comedy-drama.

The actor played businessman Edward Lewis in the Garry Marshall-directed 1990 classic, whose life changes forever when he picks up sex worker Vivian Ward, played by Julia Roberts.

"It was 11 o' clock at night. I drove up from behind, I looked out the curtain from the big amphitheater where the screening was," Gere told  HuffPost Live of a screening of the movie at a recent film festival.

"There were 7,000 people there! And I looked under the lights - most of them are under 25 that somehow knew this movie.

"It had a life way beyond... certainly what we thought when we were making it."

He added of the legacy of the film: "It's magic. You can't programme it. If you could there'd be a thousand of them now.

I'm overwhelmed at the idea of the new "Peanuts" movie. I grew up watching Charlie Brown's televised exploits on VHS in the early '90s, and even then he and his pals felt like quaint relics from another time. The fact that we're getting a Peanuts movie in November 2015 (with a snappy new trailer embedded above) is startling. Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life Madison Square Garden November 6, 2014 I wasn't going to miss this one! Fortunately the cheap seats were "only" $49.50 (plus fees, of course), which for a big-ticket concert these days is actually reasonable.

Wonder's 1976 double-lp set is on one hand an oddball choice for such treatment, yet from another perspective is perfectly obvious. Oddball because although it does have hits, the hits/filler percentages are higher on the latter than on any of his classic '70s single LPs, and some of it is downright eccentric. Perfect and obvious because, among musicheads, this set has acquired mythic status and, given its length, handily fills an evening.

The thing is, who says what's definitely filler (undistinguished material that just takes up space) and what's a hidden gem? And there's so much variety, stylistically and in terms of arrangements, that some people think it doesn't flow,...

The fact the Teen Choice Awards have lasted this long just proves how much America's youth loves their own version of the People's Choice Awards and how much of a marketing tool the event is for Hollywood. Thankfully, after almost half a decade of "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games" dominating the show, the Teen Choice Awards have entered a new era and her name is Shailene Woodley. Our reaction? "Whew." The "Fault In Our Stars" and "Divergent" actress dominated the night's show giving one insightful, warm and endearing speech after another.  She was so good her "Fios" co-stars joked about how lame their own acceptances speeches were after she spoke. They are both no doubt annoyed with the continuing comparisons, but Woodley is more than an adequate replacement for the admittedly funnier Jennifer Lawrence at any show and the "Teen Choice Awards" producers milked her presence for all that it was worth.

Meeting Offerman to talk about his new movie, "Somebody Up There Likes Me," a dark comedy about a self-centered narcissist (Keith Poulson) and his only friend (Offerman), he was everything we hoped he'd be, with facial hair in full bloom and the deadpan delivery that's made "Parks and Rec" devotees of us all.

We discussed the many mysteries of "Somebody Up There" and the secret to working (and not working) with his wife, Megan Mullally. We waxed rhapsodic about childhood pets. But when we touched on his deep-seated fear of tofu, we were really getting somewhere.
