It is a very specific remake of "Magnificent Seven, The" (1960), down to precise counterparts to several supporting characters, the knife specialist, the one with the soft spot for children, the one who is convinced that the peasants are hiding some sort of treasure.

When Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas are trying to sell an Indian outfit to a boy, they point out that the hooks at the front are for hanging scalps and then, Mr. Lucas brings out a pole with fake scalps and says "this is the latest in scalps, we call this The Magnificent Seven range." When they boy's father points out that one of them doesn't have any hair, Mr. Lucas says "That's Yul Brynner, sir."
