Marc Connelly was nominated for Broadway's 1959 Tony Award as Best Supporting or Featured Actor in a Drama for "Tall Story" as Professor Charles Osman.
Prior to release, the title was briefly changed to "The Way The Ball Bounces" before reverting to "Tall Story", the name of the play on which the movie is based.
