In May of 1962, the film played theatrically in Seattle as the co-feature with the superior British chiller BURN, WITCH, BURN.
THE DEAD ONE was released in 1960. The world premiere was held at the Flamingo Drive-In theater on September 2, 1960 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The film also played in numerous venues elsewhere in North Carolina, Louisiana and Virginia in 1960.
Despite claims that the film only played in southern states during the film's initial 1960-1961 run, THE DEAD ONE was shown in California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Lead actress Linda Ormand appeared in person at the world premiere of THE DEAD ONE in Winston-Salem.
