Spring may be the season for romance, but starting the year off with a new romance anime means we don’t have to wait for love to bloom. Honey Lemon Soda has my affection this time around, if only because it has everything that 15-year-old me loved to watch in shojo anime: a moody but cool blond boy and a shy, unpopular girl as the main leads. I thought I’d grown too old for high school romances, but Honey Lemon Soda manages to reel me in with just a couple of episodes. So, here are my reasons for why you should also start watching this gem of a show! Shojo in Full Swing I’m on the frontlines when it comes to shojo anime, always battling for its recognition in the community while also praying for more anime adaptations. Seeing Honey Lemon Soda claim a spot this season makes me excited because,...

Toshio Sako is the creator of Usogui, a massively popular gambler-style Seinen manga that ran for over a decade and entranced many fans all over the world.
Ideal organisation in Usogui | Credits: Shueisha
The author has ignited a fierce online controversy by replying to a fan’s polite message on X (formerly Twitter) asking if it was acceptable to read his manga in countries where it is not available publicly via pirated websites. Instead of seeing this as a way of affirming the popularity and the reach of his work, Toshio took the opportunity to chastise the unaware fan.
He took a very hard stance against piracy, called the fan stupid, and asked him not to read his work on any pirated sites, even if it wasn’t available legally.
A longtime debate: Piracy vs. Accessibility
Sako’s response in Japanese was a short but rude reply which was, “Don’t read it lol.

Some timeless anime is not for all ages, with seinen anime adaptations originally geared towards adult male audiences in mind, being exceptionally provocative experiences. Seinen anime has a reputation for sparking fierce debate among connoisseurs of the medium, with everything from action to horror to sports and drama encompassed by the many manga it adapts. While the medium's greats are far more numerous, the best seinen anime boasts experiential satisfaction, artistic innovation, and usually a sophisticated adaptation that elevates the source material to greater heights.
Seinen anime adaptations gained particular prominence in the 1990s with high-profile adaptations of some of the best manga of the era. Many of the best series are short-lived but have long-tail buzz potential as a discussion topic among fans due to their poignant and intense narratives or iconic quirks of the adapting studios and staff. While only certain series stands tall above the rest, the...

Hirohiko Araki’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure was a classic series, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series is known for its power system and complex battle scenes that have surpassed the limitations of the anime and manga world. Its art style and poses draw inspiration from varied Western music and fashions and mix them with supernatural abilities originating from spiritual manifestation.

Kentaro Miura was always a man to take things at a soft and leveled pace when it came to drafting and drawing Berserk. One of the very reasons why it is such a loved manga is because of the wide variety of stories and complexities it dives into. The pedestal it stands on is difficult to move and rightfully so.

While the series stands as one of the best, it is not without its flaws. Kazuhiko Torishima, former Dragon Ball editor pointed towards these exact flaws. As a manga that deals with the complexities of life, there is so much that goes into its making and the thoughts that compete with no one. Torishima, although acknowledging all that, could not help but notice one problem.

Soulsborne games are notorious for being difficult; however, the amount of love and dedication that goes into making them from Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware is completely unparalleled in the gaming industry. Masterpieces like Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Bloodborne have catapulted the studio into the mainstream, and for good reason.
With breathtaking worlds, stories, and weaponry, the inspirations behind such works require an equal amount of appreciation. Particularly in the case of Bloodborne and, surprisingly, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a world-renowned Seinen anime paved the way to creating these two jaw dropping experiences.
Blood and Blades: The Inspiration Taken from Blade of the Immortal
A lot of Bloodborne‘s trick weapons are inspired by this anime.

Seinen manga, aimed at older audiences, offers complex stories and mature themes that wouldn't be possible in shonen manga. The genre's intense artwork adds to its appeal and has contributed to its recent popularity. Some of the best art in seinen manga can be found in series like Uzumaki, Gantz, Jagaaan, One Punch Man, Berserk, Innocent, Vagabond, Goodnight Punpun, Hideout, and The Climber. These manga not only tell compelling stories, but their artwork is museum-worthy and adds depth to the narrative. Seinen manga allows for a wide range of genres, from psychological horror to historical fiction to coming-of-age tales. The artwork in these manga can evoke strong emotions and create a one-of-a-kind reading experience that fans won't find anywhere else.
Manga for adult men is home to some absolute classics of the medium, with some of the best art in seinen manga being legitimate masterpieces even outside of their story significance.

If you know anything about the world of manga, Berserk is quite probably a title that has come up at one point or another. Now, Berserk is a classic, but with all the hiatuses and Miura’s untimely death, the series’ future had been jeopardized for years. Still, in 2022, it was confirmed that Berserk would continue under the supervision of Koji Mori, Miura’s friend, and colleague, and reach the end that Miura intended. This fact made a lot of fans happy, but while Berserk is going to continue, Miura’s last two volumes, as well as his personal journey through Berserk, are going to end this year with the publication of the Deluxe Edition of Berserk Volume 14, and in this article, you are going to find out everything you need to know about this upcoming release.

Whether Sailor Moon or Fruits Basket, manga has long used classic fairytales as a jumping-off point to tell their own unique stories. Manga-inspired fairytales often combine children's stories with specific Japanese mythology and traditional storytelling to explore everything from yokai folklore and urban legends to dynastic history lessons and samurai culture, giving them a universal appeal that everyone can relate to.
The most memorable manga inspired by fairytales are ones that do not simply retell the original but use the source material to tell new emotionally resonant parables and sidestep storytelling tropes and conventions to create timeless tales that can be passed for generations. Furthermore, the best manga fairytales withstand the test of time more than most.

After exploring “The Civil War,” “Baseball” and “Country Music,” award-winning documentarian Ken Burns and his frequent collaborator Lynn Novick examined the importance of being Ernest Hemingway in their three-part PBS documentary “Hemingway.” Premiering in April to strong reviews and Emmys buzz, the series weaves Papa’s biography with excerpts from his fiction, non-fiction, and personal correspondence. The series also reviews the mythology around the larger-than-life Hemingway, who penned such classic novels as “The Sun Also Rises,” “A Farewell to Arms,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “The Old Man and the Sea,” to reveal the truth behind the bravado.
Feature film adaptations of Hemingway’s works had mixed results. Hemingway Bff Gary Cooper excelled in 1932’s “A Farewell to Arms” and 1943’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” receiving an Oscar nomination for the latter. John Garfield gave one of his strongest performance in 1950’s superb noir “The Breaking Point,” based...

Michael J. Pollard, whose long list of acting credits stretches back to the late 1950s but likely will is best remembered for his Oscar-nominated, star-making turn as the dimwitted but lovable sidekick C.W. Moss in 1967’s Bonnie and Clyde, has died. He was 80.
His death was announced on Facebook today by filmmaker Rob Zombie, who directed Pollard in 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses. A New York Times obituary cites Pollard’s friend Dawn Walker, who says the actor died Thursday of cardiac arrest at a Los Angeles hospital.
“Another member of our House of 1000 Corpses family has left us,” Zombie wrote. “The great Michael J Pollard has died. I have been a huge fan of Michael since I first saw him on the Star Trek “Miri”. He was amazing in everything from Bonnie and Clyde to Little Fauss and Big Halsy from Dirty Little Billy to The Four of the Apocalypse.

Approximately a year after his death, the legacy of Paul Newman continues to live on through Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment with a 17-disc collection of over 27 hours of the Academy Award winning actor's films as well as a 136-page book with never before seen images.
The "Paul Newman Tribute Collection" features some of his best yet perhaps more unnoticed work, which includes "Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man," collector's editions of "The Verdict," "The Hustler," and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (which also marks the 40th anniversary of the film) and a special edition disc of "The Towering Inferno." Although some titles such as "The Color of Money," for which Newman won an Academy Award for his performance are missing, the latest tribute set to the actor is still an interesting collection of some of the films from his over 50-year career that might have been missed but are still worthy of seeing.

Seattle – Dalton Trumbo was one of the biggest names in screenwriting who for the longest time wasn’t allowed to show his name on the screen. He won two Oscars, but wasn’t allowed to step onto the stage.
At the peak of his career in 1947, he was brought before the House Un-American Activities Committee to testify about communists in Hollywood films. Like other screenwriters before the Huac, he refused to answer the questions. Their decision to not name names got them blacklisted in the industry and sent to prison. After nearly a year behind bars, Dalton secretly returned to screenwriting. He used fake names and front writers on various project. It wasn’t till 1960 when his name accompanied Exodus and Spartacus that the blacklist was broken.
