- The king of Telbia defeats an African army through the intervention of the war god Mars. Remaining on Earth, Mars falls in love with the human girl Daphne, but she is forced to become a priestess in the temple of Venus.
- Afros and his warriors are planning on attacking and pillaging the city of Telbia (Clearly the costumes in the move are from the city of Knossus on the Greek Island of Crete) . Although outnumbered, the King has decided to fight to the death to defend his city. During the attack, Antaurus, works behind the scenes to aid Afros, as he was promised the throne if he helped. Just as the city is about to fall, an offering to Jupiter helps turn the tide and the God Mars appears. He rallies the city's fighters and together, Afros and his warriors are defeated. When he sets sight on Daphne, Telbia's most beautiful citizen (her father was killed earlier by Afros when he was sent out to bargain with Afros), he decides to become a mortal and stay on Earth with her. Jupiter gives the OK and 3 lightning bolts to use as needed to help him along the way. However, if he breaks all 3, he will remain mortal and ultimately die. Behind the scenes there are soap opera theatrics taking place. The king's daughter, Ecuba, loves Antaurus, but knows he has the hots for Daphne. She warns him if he betrays her, she will tell her father everything. Daphne ends up being sent to the temple of Venus, away from both Mars and Antaurus. Mars heads out to rescue her but falls foul of Venus' charms. This allows Daphne to return home only to be set up as a sacrifice to a carnivorous plant called Pagano. ends up killing Ecuba to keep his secret from being exposed and he blames Maia, a deaf mute servant girl. Meanwhile, Mars escapes Venus' lair and teaming up with Frixos (the film's comic relief), heads off to save Daphne and Maia (MAYA in the Italian version), from being sacrificed to the man eating (or I guess the woman eating) plant, Pagano. This he does but Daphne ends up being killed by an errant arrow shot by Antaurus. Antaurus ends up getting devoured by the plant Pagano and Mars, begging Jupiter to make things right, brings Daphne back from the dead and the two ride off in a chariot towards Olympus.
