It was said that director Sergio Corbucci took Totò still dressed up as a monk from the set of this movie to make him play the final scene of The Shortest Day (1963).
Mostly filmed in interiors, except from some scenes outside the Castello Piccolomini in Balsorano, near L'Aquila. The castle, built in 1460, served as location for a lot of movies from the 1960s to the 1990s, in particular horror and crime movies and, in the 1990s, for a series of pornographic movies.
