The people who own "Snickargården" in real life (the house where Melkersson family lives in the movies) got so tired of all the visitors who came to island Norröra to see the house that they opened a café.
This was the first story that Astrid Lindgren wrote directly for TV. The other stories had been published as books first.
There is no island called Saltkråkan but the island where the movies were recorded is located in the archipelago of Stockholm and is called "Norröra".
A well known scene in the series is when Melker (Torsten Lilliecrona) ruins the dinner by adding too much salt to the fish. This has become sort of a joke in Sweden, being a "Melker cook". In real life, actor Torsten Lilliecrona, was a professional chef, and would probably never make such a simple mistake.
