Sam (Mary Tyler Moore) the switchboard operator's legs and hands were all that were ever seen of her on-camera during this series. Moore's voice was heard on the soundtrack, but her face was never revealed.
This series was a very popular radio show that starred Dick Powell as the sexy sleuth. It ran for a few years in the early 1950s. When Powell was approached to do a television series, he felt he was too old, but recommended David Janssen.
