Again, the plot takes place in a town named Bentonville, but when Nick is pulled over for speeding by the motorcycle officer, the emblem on the motorcycle reads "LPD," which stands for Lexington (Ky.) Police Department, where the movie was shot. In fact, that area was in the county (the city and county have since merged), so the arresting officer would have been with the Fayette County Sheriff.
The car did not enter as a Mercury, but as a 1942 Ford and ended as a '47 or '48 Ford.
The setting is in a "Bentonville", but in the first interior bedroom scene of the dead son, the high school diploma clearly reads "Henry Clay High School, Lexington, Kentucky", where the film was shot.
When Nick is testing his hot rod car around the horse corral the car starts out as a Mercury then, after the horse jumps the fence, it switches to a Ford.
