After Travis scolds Old Yeller and Arliss for being in the drinking water, the next scene shows Old Yeller lying down perfectly clean and dry.

When Travis is attacked by one of the hogs and calls for Yeller, his right suspender droops down over his shoulder, but in the next shot and throughout the rest of the scene, it is back up again.

The movie was released in 1957. The song at the beginning says "Old Yeller". "Best dog on dog in the west". The movie is set in 1869 in Texas, which is in the south.

"When the cow gets the disease, it wheezes and falls down. When the Wolf and Old Yeller are assumed to have the disease, they are vicious and look healthy." This is because the animals are in different stages of the disease.

When Old Yeller is fighting the mother black bear, in the wide shots, it's clear that they used a different dog, as it has a lot more black on its muzzle than the dog playing Old Yeller does.

When Rose has her calf and attacks Travis, someone just off-screen throws the dog on top of the cow.

When Rose is acting up and refusing to allow Travis to milk her, Old Yeller is called into the pen. It is led to be believed that Old Yeller's presence made Rose behave herself. However, it is obvious that what actually happened was that Rose was replaced with a much calmer cow. The reason this is known is because the calm Rose is wearing a different harness.

Although the Coates family are just poor farmers, the mother, Katie Coates, is wearing lipstick.

The rabid wolf doesn't look like a wolf (because it was played by a German Shepherd).

The film is set in 1869. However, Travis' gun has a model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor receiver. This rifle fires a cartridge, so Travis has no need for the powder horn around his neck.
