A calendar in the gas station where the attendant gets shot, displays "July 1957." The film was released that fall.
Bombshell Nora Hayden has a small role as a waitress, and yet her face and not the lead criminal Gene Raymond's moll Jeanne Cooper adorns the official Blu Ray. Hayden is also on many of the lobby cards and posters. Ironically, her character is a kind of "backup moll" in that she states how she hopes the criminals get away, and even has a feeling that Gene Raymond is one of them, and asks him if he's returning.
The working title of this film was The Violent Road.
Actor Michael Fox provides the radio announcer's voice through the entire road trip... that all the crooks are listening to. He then turns up as the smog officer, giving Gene Raymond a ticket at the movie's last act.
