Movie industry Trade Papers in 1958 reported that Universal-International was considering updating the scripts of some of their old Abbott & Costello comedy features for their new comedy team Rowan & Martin. Eventually, however, "Once Upon a Horse" turned out to be the only comedy movie made at Universal-International by Rowan & Martin.
His bit part was the final feature appearance for former western star Tom Keene. He would spend the following two years in episodic television.
