A Sketch film with intrigue , drama , tension , pursuits and crossfire

A police inspector called Gonzalo Ojeda (Adriano Rimoldi) arrives at a mountain refuge with a detainee , Andrés (Antonio Puga) , who is seriously injured , the latter is a drug trafficker who has been captured after a chase across the France-Catalonia border. The atmosphere in which the cop finds himself is extremely tense , since those present there await news of the rescue of Gonzalo, Teresa's partner , who has suffered an accident while descending the mountain wall. This situation makes people start talking about destiny , which gives rise to a whole series of stories around this topic . These stories are starred by brave cops (Adriano Rimoldi, Monserrat Julió) and delinquents (Carlos Otero , Antonio Puga) , a taxi man (Paco Martinez Soria) and even a father (Luis Induni) and his child who takes a religious figure from a church.

At first , what is most surprising about this film is its location in a rural setting , which is reminiscent of ¨High Sierra¨ 1941 by Raoul Walsh , something not too common in the criminal genre, as well as the presence of the first female police officer in Spanish cinema , played by Montserrat Julió . The origin of this work dates back to the end 1951, when Miguel Iglesias proposed the possibility of making a feature film of ¨Sketches¨ in which each episode would be directed by a different filmmakers. Those involved in this project were the following ones : Josep Maria Forn , Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi , Francisco Pérez-Dolz and Miguel Iglesias himself. However , it could not be financed and it was not until six years later , almost by chance , when Juan Bosch would give shape to this interesting project . Each of the stories told by the characters have in common a theme present in any Noir Film , such as fatality , ambition and sinister delinquency , with the difference that 'Sendas marcadas' (1959) or 'Marked Paths' is approached from various sources such as : comedy , the fantastic genre , melodrama, intrigue and even religious cinema, although the central axis is typically police genre. Some scenes of the film were partially censored that's why not to the liking of Franco's censorship . Stars Adriano Rimoldi giving a nice acting as a valiant police inspector . Rimoldi was a famous Italian player who ocassionally performed various Spanish films . From the late 1940s , 1950s to the early 1960s Rimoldi played in several Spanish films such as : Angustia (1947), Noche sin cielo (1947) , Nada (1947) , Sinfonía del hogar (1947), Alhucemas (1948) , Doce horas de vida (1949) , Pacto de silencio (1949) , En un rincón de España (1949) , Si te hubieses casado conmigo (1950) and had a recurring role as the cook in the Spanish TV series Cocina (1957-1958) . On the big screen , other movies Adriano acted were Melchior in King of Kings (Nicholas Ray 1961) and in 1963 on tv in the drama Nocturne in New York by Clifford Odets . In 1965 Rimoldi enacted his final film role in the Spanish comedy Zarabanda Bing Bing by José María Forqué . He's well accompanied by a good support cast with some familar faces , such as : Francisco Piquer, Montserrat Julió , Luis Induni , Miguel Palenzuela and special mention mention for Paco Martínez Soria as a cabman and playing a peculiar fantasy sketch .

It is an acceptable example of Drama and Noir film that was made in Spain in the late 50s, and 60s , and one of the first films directed by Juan Bosch, involved both the splendour of this genre in the decade. Juan was a Spanish craftsman , writing and directing ; working from late 50s and the 60s in all kind of genres and B movies . His film debut was ¨Huellas del destino¨(57) . Later on , he made a Film noir trilogy : his second film :¨A sangre fría¨, ¨sendas marcadas¨, ¨Regresa un desconocido¨. And beach comedies as ¨Ultimo verano¨, Bahía de Palma¨. He made other popular comedies for ¨IFI¨ production company , such as ¨El terrible de Chicago¨, ¨La viudita YeYe¨; and he directed Spaghetti Western : ¨Dallas¨, "God in Heaven, Arizona on Earth¨, "And the Crows Will Dig Your Grave" , "My Horse, My Gun, Your Widow" ,¨Ciudad Maldita¨, ¨They Believed He Was No Saint" , "Stagecoach of the Condemned" ; Giallo : "The Killer Wore Gloves" , "On the Edge" or "The Killer with a Thousand Eyes" ; more Comedy : Mauricio Mon Amour¨, ¨40 Años Sin Sexo¨, ¨Caray Con Divorcio¨ , ¨Rolls Para Hipolito¨ and Terror : ¨Exorcismo¨, ¨Secta Siniestra¨ . Rating : 6/10 , this one remains largely watchable .
