This was the first film of a multi-picture deal between Andy Griffith and Universal. Griffith was so disappointed with this film, that he declined to make the other pictures that were part of the deal.
Bob Hastings was in The Poseidon Adventure (1972) later which featured Eric Shea, younger brother of Christopher Shea, who's in this movie.
Lee Meriwether: Costumed in a black leotard, her back to the camera, is one of the dancers backstage at the burlesque theater.
