Brad Pitt’s Biggest Supporter Protested Against Him Playing a Grammy Winning Singer in a Biopic For Years
Image
Brad Pitt has worn the face of many over the years. Be it classic characters from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s works or Chuck Palahniuk’s works, he certainly knows how to capture the essence of the characters that he plays. Considering this, and the amount of success that he has gained over the years, one would assume that he would be anyone’s first pick for a documentary.

However, this wasn’t the case when it came to Jeff Buckley’s mother. After the Grammy winner’s untimely passing, his mother was trying to perfectly encapsulate his essence in a project that detailed his life.

While Pitt would have been the perfect pick to play the legendary singer, it would seem that things got too complicated between the actor and Buckley’s mother.

Brad Pitt desperately wanted to play Jeff Buckley in...

The 10-Year-Old Horror Film Franchise You Need to Revisit Before the Shudder Series
Image
Recently, Mark Duplass announced the long-awaited threequel to the found footage series Creep, in which he plays a serial killer who tricks people into recording their own murders. However, instead of a new feature film, fans will get a six-part TV miniseries with each episode featuring a fresh victim. It drops on AMC+ and Shudder on November 15, making now the perfect time to revisit the original movies.

Duplass is best known for comedic dramas where dysfunctional adults confront their often-embarrassing relationship issues. With Creep, he and co-creator Patrick Brice have brilliantly converted this content into horror stories about a murderer who weaponizes emotional vulnerability and "therapy-speak" to shame his unwitting victims into sticking around long enough to get killed. Creep and Creep 2 take two very different approaches to this setup, and it will be exciting to see how their experiment continues in the new series.

Creep Successfully Combines the...

How 22 Jump Street Created A Funny Channing Tatum Meme Still Used 10 Years Later
Image
22 Jump Street is one of the best comedy films to come out of the 2010s, and alongside its hilarious jokes and exciting action, the film produced an iconic Channing Tatum meme that remains funny a decade later. After the success of 21 Jump Street in 2012, Phil Lord and Chris Miller produced an equally strong sequel, with both movies finding plenty of success. The films each received strong reviews and were also big hits at the box office, creating a strong franchise that almost led to a 23 Jump Street and Men in Black crossover.

Although Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum were already established names before signing up for 21 Jump Street, the comedy cemented their status as big stars, with the sequel confirming it. Jonah Hill has had some big roles since, as the likes of War Dogs and Don't Look Up continued to highlight the actor's comedic qualities.

DC TV Shows Make Over $1 Billion A Year In Revenue For Time Warner
Image via The CW

While Warner Bros. and DC are certainly not currently enjoying the same success in their DC Extended Universe as Marvel is having with their own Cinematic Universe, there’s no denying they have a pretty solid grip of things on the TV front. On The CW alone, they have shows like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and iZombie (which was published under their Vertigo imprint), so based on that alone, it wasn’t surprising to hear just how well their TV brands are doing.

According to THR, during a Time Warner conference call, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes revealed that the DC TV series generated more than $1 billion in revenue a year. To put things into perspective, neither of the Dceu films this year have grossed that much. Batman v Superman (disappointingly) made $873 million worldwide, and Suicide Squad (surprisingly) was able to rake in $745 million worldwide.

Deadpool’S Tim Miller Ready To Rock Sonic The Hedgehog
Image via Sega

Last week, it was revealed that Deadpool director Tim Miller left Deadpool 2 due to creative differences with actor/producer Ryan Reynolds. Despite this, the report stated that Miller’s departure from the project was mutual and amicable, and that he would continue to work with 20th Century Fox on a science-fiction adaptation entitle Influx. But, of course, like any filmmaker in Hollywood, Miller has gone on to secure his involvement in more than one project.

THR is reporting that Miller has now signed on to develop and produce an adaptation of Sony Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which was announced to be getting a film adaptation back in February (apparently, they’ve made little to no headway on it since then, based on the fact that Miller is hopping on to develop it).

Let The Right One In To Get Pilot For TV Series On TNT
According to Variety, TNT has ordered a pilot episode for the series Let the Right One In, an adaptation of the Swedish novel of the same name from author John Ajvide Lindqvist. The adaptation is currently being developed by Teen Wolf and Criminal Minds creator, Jeff Davis, who also penned the script for the pilot.

Let the Right One In is no stranger to adaptations. The book was first adapted into its native language by director Tomas Alfredson, a filmmaker who also directed the 2011 film Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. Two years later, the book was then adapted into an English-language film Let Me In from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves. Both films were rather well-made, and there's no denying the fact that the source material is pretty strong as well.

This move from TNT is a strange one, as I can't see how there's enough...

WB Taking More Hands-On Approach With 'Justice League'
Much has been said regarding the aftermath of Batman v Superman. While I don't think many people would call it a failure -- the movie still made around $725 million worldwide thus far -- it's definitely been a bit of a disappointment in the eyes of the studio. As we reported yesterday, the film may very well make less profit than Man Of Steel, despite Man Of Steel being made on a smaller budget, and despite only starring Superman in the lead role.

Now rumors seem to be flying about all kinds of goings on behind the scenes. Recently there was word that they'd be going back into Suicide Squad reshoots with the intent of making it lighter and funnier. While we can't confirm or deny that, actor Jai Courtney did go on the record to say that the rumor was false, as far as he could tell. Now the latest...

Stakes Are High This Week For WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara
This is a big week for DC Comics fanboys. For the first time, we get to see Batman and Superman together on the big screen in the live-action film. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is a movie that's been a long time in the making, and it comes well into Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which now has a whopping 12 films under its belt, including two Avengers movies. Considering how far behind they are in this game of shared universes, it makes sense that they'd opt for a different formula. Rather than using the tried-and-true Marvel formula of standalone film-standalone film-standalone film-standalone film-standalone-film-teamup, they've decided to go all in almost from the start, pitting Batman against Superman in their second film, and introducing most of the future Justice League superheroes.

It's an ambitious movie, to say the least, and WB has definitely paid a pretty penny to make it a reality.

'Seventh Son' Star Ben Barnes Really Loves 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' (Exclusive)
In "Seventh Son," Ben Barnes plays the seventh son of a seventh son, a mystically indebted apprentice who goes on the road with Jeff Bridges, who plays a Spook, the last of a dying breed of knights who defends the innocent from the ghastly forces of darkness (led, in this case, by an incredibly over-the-top Julianne Moore as a fearsome witch). Barnes's Tom follows the Luke Skywalker trajectory of starting off as a slightly above-average farm boy to becoming the savior of the land.

And Barnes has some history with this kind of thing, having starred in the "Chronicles of Narnia" movies (with far more benevolent beasts). When we got to speak to Barnes about "Seventh Son," we asked him about how he came aboard the project, what it was like working with Bridges and his comely costar Alicia Vikander (don't worry - if you don't know who she is,...

Benny Medina On The Death Of Jeff Pollack
This week we lost producer-director Jeff Pollack, who died suddenly while jogging in Hermosa Beach at the age of 54. Few knew him better than longtime friend and business partner Benny Medina. The two met at a card game in the 1980s and bonded over their mutual love of film, television and music. They went to create the format for the hit 1990 NBC comedy series The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, whose central character played by Will Smith was based on Medina. Three years later, they formed management/production company Medina/Pollack Entertainment, renamed Handprint Entertainment in 1995, with Smith as their first client. Pollack and Medina collaborated on a slew of film and TV projects, including the features Above the Rim, based on a story by the duo with Pollack directing, The Fighting Temptations and The Tyra Banks Show. While Handprint closed its doors in 2008, Pollack and Medina remained close. Here is...

James Mangold Latest Director Linked To Long Developing 'Le Cercle Rouge' Remake
It is now nearing a decade since Hollywood has tried to crack the nut of bringing Jean-Pierre Melville's stone cold classic noir/procedural "Le Cercle Rouge" to the big screen, and it has seen a ton of talent come and go in that time. Back in 2004, it was set up at Paramount with John Woo attached to direct a script by Jeff Pinker ("Alias," "Fringe"). He eventually left the project and Johnnie To ("Election," "Time & Tide") assumed the director's chair. This incarnation seemed to gather steam, amassing a cast that one point had Liam Neeson, Chow Yun-Fat, Orlando Bloom, Tim Roth and Alain Delon (who starred in the original) attached or offered roles, with a Brit List script by Steve Knight ("Eastern Promises," "Dirty Pretty Things"). That never came to pass, and more recently, John Hillcoat was offered a chance to direct , while Jaume Collet-Serra also kicked the tires on it.

Music: Music Review: Jeff The Brotherhood: We Are The Champions
Weezer fans have complained for years about the band’s turn from the confluence of skater punk, crotch-thrusting metal, and malt-shop power-pop that defined its mid-’90s prime. But brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall of Nashville’s Jeff The Brotherhood don’t merely pine for “The Blue Album” on We Are The Champions; they’ve sidestepped Rivers Cuomo and created the album he’s no longer interested in making. While Champions at times explicitly apes Weezer—the Orralls should be grateful that the “whoa-oo-whoa-oo-oh’s” on “Bummer” aren’t trademarked—it’s more of a spiritual tribute than anything else ...
