Featured review
Sir Cuthbert Ware-Armitage (Terry-Thomas), son of Sir Percy Ware-Armitage from 'Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines' , inherits his father's empire when he suddenly passes. However due to a lost card game - he had six cards in his hand - half the family car business belongs to Chester Schofield (Tony Curtis). To win it back Sir Cuthbert challenges Schofield to a race in the Monte Carlo Rally, to the winner, the spoils. Also in the race are two very British army types played by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, jewellery smuggler Gert Frobe, two Italian brothers looking for romance and a group of women competing in the traditionally man's race for the first time.
Desperately silly but fun sequel to Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines focussing on the endless disasters of the competitors, particularly Cook and Moore, using their latest ridiculous inventions and failing, to get ahead, with Terry-Thomas assisted by Eric Sykes cheating at every turn to beat Curtis, accompanied by love interest Susan Hampshire. It's essentially an episode of Wacky Races, fun, sweet and innocent.
