Massimo Dallamano may be best known to some as the cinematographer of Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and For a Few Dollars More (1965), credited under the pseudonym Jack Dalmas. Following his collaborations with Leone, Dallamano would only serve as cinematographer twice more (his last credit being French director Michel Deville’s 1966 comedy The Mona Lisa Has Been Stolen starring George Chakiris and Marina Vlady). The explosive popularity of the spaghetti western would allow Dallamano to begin his own career as a director, with 1967 debut Bandidos (credited under another pseudonym, Max Dillman), but he’d soon after turn to the bread and butter of more exploitative genre fare. The director of eleven features, up until his death in 1976, Dallamano’s enduring, fascinating masterpiece stands as the 1972 title What Have You Done to Solange? Credited as a giallo staple, Dallamano’s film is more of a hybrid of subgenres, a mixed giallo and poliziotteschi film.

Based on the classic novel by Oscar Wilde, Dorian Gray tells the story of a strikingly beautiful young man named Dorian (Ben Barnes - The Chronicles Of Narnia).
He arrives in Victorian London and is swept into a social whirlwind by the charismatic Henry Wotton (Colin Firth - Mamma Mia!), who introduces Dorian to the hedonistic pleasures of the city. When a portrait of Dorian is unveiled, such is its beauty that he makes a pledge: he would give anything to stay as he is in the picture - even his soul.
Dorian Gray examines the destructive power of beauty, the blind pursuit of pleasure and the darkness that can result.
The film will be released in UK cinemas on Wednesday September 9th 2009. Check out a trailer and selection of hi-res images from the film below!

The tale of Dorian Gray is one that has been told many times over the years and in many different variations. The character comes from a Victorian Era novel written by Oscar Wilde called The Picture of Dorian Gray, about a handsome young man who sells his soul so that he may never lose his good looks. He indulges in sex, drugs and murder but with each act, a painting of him changes to reflect a disfigurement of some sort, revealing his hidden secret. There is new take on the story directed by Oliver Parker (The Importance of Being Earnest, St. Trinian's, Othello), that stars Prince Caspian himself, Ben Barnes, along with Colin Firth and Rachel Hurd-Wood. An international trailer has arrived online and while the music is a bit over the top, the Victorian Era setting and lush cinematography by Roger Pratt (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,...

Shock Till You Drop have procured the first look at the teaser trailer for Dorian Gray, starring Ben Barnes and Colin Firth.Based on Oscar Wilde's classic - and only - novel (full title The Picture of Dorian Gray), the film sees Ben Barnes as Dorian, the prettyboy who wishes that his portrait would age while he stays youthful. With disastrous consequences. Colin Firth plays Wilde-cipher Lord Henry Wotton, whose flip observation that the only things worth pursuing in life are youth and beauty starts the whole process. The book was first published serially in 1890, but has incredibly only rarely been officially filmed. There are a few silent versions between between 1910 and 1918, and a really great 1945 version starring George Sanders as Wotton. The glimpses we get of the horribly old Dorian in this trailer look very much like the terrifying painting from that film. The rest are mainly TV adaptations,...

It’s a long, long time since I’ve written anything about the upcoming adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic story about the narcissistic Dorian Gray. So long in fact that I almost forgot there was a film in the making! Considering the fact that the film hits UK theatres on 18th September This Year, you would have thought that we would have seen some promotional material before now.
Still, marketing inadequacies aside, there is finally a New poster for Dorian Gray, starring Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian), Colin Firth, Rebecca Hall and Emilia Fox. The film is directed by Oliver Parker. Check out the poster below and let me know what you think, going to see it or will you be giving this a miss?

The poster has surfaced today for Oliver Parker's "more-horrific" adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Portrait of Dorian Gray, now shortened to simply Dorian Gray, and if you stare at it long enough, it will age before your eyes!
Well, no, not really, but you can still stare at it! Parker, whom you may remember as playing Peloquin in Clive Barker's Night Breed, is said to be handling the classic story from more of a pure horror tale approach. Guess we'll have to wait and see what that means. In any event dig the art below courtesy of BadTaste, and look for more on this one soon!

Earlier today, ComingSoon.net spoke with actor Ben Barnes, best known as the title character of Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian , about his role in the adaptation of Noel Coward's Easy Virtue , but the horror enthusiasts will probably want to know more about his starring role in the upcoming Dorian Gray , based on the story by Oscar Wilde. In the movie, Barnes plays a 50-year-old man living in the body of a 20-something-year-old, having maintained his youth with the help of a painting that has the magical properties to take on his natural aging process. Even though there have been many adaptations and versions of Wilde's tale, we asked Barnes if this new version was going to be a very different take on the story than we've seen in previous films and TV...

For the first time in over half a century there is no Ackermuseum of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror. Forrest J Ackerman (1916-2008), genre-giant and the heart and soul of the largest collection of memorabilia ever assembled, has left the building. Now the building is leaving us. Without question, the end of an era. But not necessarily the end of Forry’s dream. Even as we face the depressing barren walls left by Uncle Forry’s absence, we’ll also consider how the recent auction of his memorabilia may offer a glimmer of hope for classic genre fandom and a new generation of Monster Kids.

London -- The U.K. Film Council is pumping a whopping 1.6 million pounds ($2.8 million) into Christopher Smith's psychological thriller "Triangle."
The cash will come from the Council's Premiere Fund, the government-backed body said Monday.
Written and directed by Smith, who shot to cult status here with the low-budget slasher "Creep," the movie is produced by Jason Newmark and Julie Baines of U.K.-based Dan Films and Christ Brown from Australian banner Pictures in Paradise.
"Triangle" will be distributed worldwide by Icon Entertainment International, soon to be under new management after Stewart Till's buyout.
Starring Melissa George and Michael Dorman, the film tells the story of a woman on a sailing ship who, after a freak storm, finds herself clinging to the upturned hull of the boat. Rescue comes in the form of a giant ocean liner that arrives in the fog. The project had previously attracted 53,000 pounds ($93,500) from the Council's development cashpool.

Colin Firth has signed on to star opposite Ben Barnes in "Dorian Gray," the retelling of the Oscar Wilde classic being directed by Oliver Parker.
Based on "The Picture of Dorian Gray," the story centers on Gray (Barnes), a young man who becomes the subject of a painting. As the man descends into a hedonistic lifestyle, the portrait begins to age and morph, but he doesn't.
Firth will play Lord Henry Wotton, the aristocrat who corrupts Gray with his worldview. (He is sometimes called Harry in the novel.)
Ealing Studios is behind the adaptation, which is being produced by Barnaby Thompson. At May's Festival de Cannes, Thompson said Parker plans to make a visceral, dark horror story and said the themes of stardom are as relevant as ever.

Firth stars in the hit musical "Mamma Mia!" and next appears in Michael Winterbottom's "Genova" and Ealing Studios' "Easy Virtue," both of which will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Firth, repped by CAA, also has wrapped Robert Zemeckis' motion-capture "A Christmas Carol" opposite Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman.
