Jan Nemec was supposed to direct this film. After Nemec publicly protested against Russian occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968, he was blacklisted by communist regime and film was directed by its screenwriter Ester Krumbachová.
Jirina Bohdalová and Vladimír Mensík were perceived by Czech audiences as an established comedy duo already, having appeared together in dozens of skits in various TV variety shows and several TV short comedies, but they rarely met in films, and this remains their biggest work together for the big screen.
