Most of the Quebec actors who appeared in this movie (Jean Coutu and Aubert Pallascio among them) were dubbed by France actors in this movie, even though they were fluent in French. Possibilty at the time that their French-Canadian accent would not be understood even with a clean sound articulation.
As with many movies directed by René Clement, English-speaking actors would act with the French script with or without accent before being over-dubbed with French actors in the post-synchronization process (same was done with the French-fluent Quebec actors who appeared in the movie).
The third and final screen pairing of Robert Ryan and Aldo Ray, following " Men in War" and " God's Little Acre".
