The only time that Michael Dunn and Victor Buono worked together on screen, each having previously played a recurring villain on The Wild Wild West (1965), respectively Dr. Miguelito Loveless and Count Carlos Manzeppi, with Buono also having played a different villain, Wing Fat, in a first-season episode and yet a different character, Dr. Henry Messenger, in the second return TV movie of that series, More Wild Wild West (1980). The two actors had each also been previously nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award--Buono for What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) and Dunn for Ship of Fools (1965).
The title obviously refers to Raymond Chandler's "Farewell, My Lovely", just as the character name "Limeway" puns on the surname of Sydney Greenstreet,
The marquee of the real Culver Theater shows the titles of two non-existent Westerns, Four Guns To Yuma and The Big Roundup.
