Francis Veber used to call most of his characters with names based on famous cities (Toulouse, Milan, Perrache etc.) in order to avoid any confusion with real life persons.
Mireille Darc's dress opened on the back was, for many critics and audiences, the trademark of the film. Pierre Richard himself was not warned about it and when the scene was shot, with Mireille Darc turning her back to him, his surprise was real for the camera.
The awesome looking turntable featured in a scene where Colonel Toulouse, played by Jean Rochefort, listens to music in his apartment is an IMF Transcription 300, one of the rarest turntables from the 1970s.
Hands playing cards in the opening credits are those of Gérard Majax, who also plays a small role in the film.
