Dave Chappelle won best comedy album at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, his third win in a row in the category and sixth win overall.
The Recording Academy presented the comedy album trophy during the premiere ceremony, which took place before the televised event later on Sunday. Chappelle was not present to accept the trophy.
Chappelle won for The Dreamer, his 2023 New Year’s Eve Netflix special. The new hour was Chappelle’s seventh for the streamer, and his first since the ultra-controversial 2021 special The Closer, which brought the comedian under fire for jokes about the transgender community.
In The Dreamer, Chappelle still targeted several different marginalized groups, including trans people and the disabled. “I love punching down!” he said at one point in the special.
Chappelle’s win beat Ricky Gervais’ Armageddon, Jim Gaffigan’s The Prisoner, Nikki Glaser’s Someday You’ll Die and Trevor Noah’s Where Was I.

Dave Chappelle has been nominated six times for Best Comedy Album at the Grammys and now has won six times, continuing his undefeated streak in the category with his Feb. 2 victory for The Dreamer. He now stands alone as the Grammys’ second-most-awarded comedian, breaking his tie with George Carlin and Richard Pryor and just one trophy shy of seven-time champ Bill Cosby. His previous five victories were for The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas (2018), Equanimity and The Bird Revelation (2019), Sticks and Stones (2020), The Closer (2023), and What’s in a Name? (2024).
This year Chappelle defeated first-time nominees Ricky Gervais (Armageddon) and Nikki Glaser (Someday You’ll Die), three-time nominee and fifth-year Grammy host Trevor Noah (Where Was I?), and eight-time nominee Jim Gaffigan (The Prisoner). All four are awaiting their first Grammy.

Jim Caviezel’s career is one of Hollywood’s most interesting stories. Once a rising star with great performances, Caviezel’s life took a dramatic turn after playing the role of Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s controversial 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ.

While the news that Christopher Nolan’s next movie will be an adaptation of The Odyssey is exciting, this does represent a major departure for the director. All of Christopher Nolan’s movies are different, but there are a few major thematic preoccupations that link the director's works to each other. Nolan’s earlier efforts, like Following, Memento, and Insomnia, all tackle the slippy nature of memory and the subjective nature of reality. His Dark Knight trilogy is concerned with narratives of law and order against anarchy, and questions of what constitutes justice in a morally gray, ambitious world.

Christopher Nolan's next movie will be a fresh cinematic adaptation of the Odyssey, one of history's most impressive and enduring epics.
While Inception, Interstellar, and Tenet play with time, physics, and nested realities, Nolan’s most recent movie, Oppenheimer, tackled real-life history.

Christopher Nolan's next movie is officially The Odyssey, and the reveal is nothing close to the rumored movie plots, which is for the best. Ever since Nolan wrapped up work on Oppenheimer and won multiple Oscars - including Best Picture and Best Director, there was great curiosity about what he'd do next. Anticipation only got bigger once the cast list started to come together, with Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson set to appear.
It's now been confirmed that Christopher Nolan's next movie is The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem. After tackling true stories, original sci-fi, and comic books for so long, Nolan's pivot to adapt Homer's poem was unexpected. There was never any doubt that whatever he did next would be big, and Nolan's typical secrecy left the internet buzzing with various rumors about what he wanted to do next.

After the massive success of Oppenheimer, which blew past already-high expectations at the box office and even snagged an Oscar for Best Picture in 2024, Christopher Nolan is gearing up for his next big project.
Christopher Nolan on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert | CBS
While the plot is still under wraps (classic Nolan and his habit of taking scripts with him), what we do know is that the cast is already shaping up to be something special. With a bunch of familiar faces and also first-timers, here’s the rundown of everything we know so far.
The regulars make a return
If you’ve followed Nolan’s career, and like plenty of his peers, you know he has a core group of actors he loves to work with. All three of them are coming back for this new film, and it’s always interesting to see how he uses the same faces in different ways.

Although not a lot is known about Christopher Nolans next movie, it is already clear that the Oppenheimer director may manage to outdo the incredibly starry cast of that historical biopic. 2023s Oppenheimer was an astronomical hit for director Christopher Nolan. Although many of Christopher Nolans best movies are twisty psychological thrillers, Oppenheimer saw the director assemble a massive cast for a more intimate portrait of the conflicted physicist behind the atomic bomb. Cillian Murphys Oppenheimer led the starry ensemble, but the movie's lengthy runtime also included a veritable whos who of notable A-list Hollywood stars.

Casting announcements for a new Christopher Nolan movie are like the years in Smash Mouth's 'All Star' — they start coming and they don't stop coming. And having seemingly outdone himself with the stacked ensemble of his Best Picture winner Oppenheimer last year, the British filmmaker is already looking to increase the star power wattage with his latest effort. After already setting Tom Holland and Matt Damon to lead his as-yet-untitled new Universal movie in recent weeks, today Deadline are reporting that Nolan has just added two more heavyweights to his next movie's call sheet — Zendaya and Anne Hathaway.
Who exactly Zendaya and Hathaway will play in the movie — or Holland, or Damon for that matter — remains, like the film itself's plot, a mystery at this point. Not that that's stopped folk having a stab at guessing what Nolan's cooking up anyway, though. It's hardly been a month since we first...

Ricky Gervais, Dave Chappelle, Jim Gaffigan, Nikki Glaser, and Trevor Noah were the five comedians nominated for the Grammy for Best Comedy Album on Friday morning.
Gervais, Chappelle and Noah scored for their respective specials Armageddon, The Dreamer, and Where Was I, which were all released on Netflix, with Glaser recognized for HBO’s Someday You’ll Die.
Remarkably, the nomination was the first for both Gervais and Glaser, whose career reached new heights on the heels of her performance in Netflix’s Tom Brady roast. While Gaffigan recently took to Prime Video with the special Dark Pale, he was recognized for The Prisoner, which is the only one of the nominees only to have been released in album form.
Already, four of the five sets have been recognized by other major awards bodies. Gervais’s Armageddon won the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television earlier this year,...

Plot: Two Mormons (Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher) on a mission knock on the wrong door and find themselves fighting for their lives, faith, and sanity.
Review: Heretic is the latest horror flick from A24, and like many of their genre efforts, it’s a provocative one. Questions of theology and faith are always timely, and much of this diabolical and impressively harsh horror film deals with whether or not – in the face of great conflict – you can maintain your faith or be swayed by both the desire to save your own life and the evidence you’re being presented with.
In this, Sister Paxton (Chloe East) and Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) are young Mormons fulfilling their duties as missionaries by essentially going door-to-door to try to convert people to their faith. Neither is a particular stickler for Mormon theology, with the movie opening with them discussing pornography and condoms,...

As a rumour emerges that Christopher Nolan might be making a vampire horror next, we look at some unsettling moments from his earlier work.
The success of Oppenheimer was so unexpectedly huge that, if Christopher Nolan were to walk into a studio with a script about the making of decorative wall plates, executives would sign a cheque without asking too many questions.
Instead, one rumour rolling around is that Nolan has some sort of genre film in the works – according to the singularly intense YouTuber Grace Randolph, Nolan’s next project is in a similar “genre space” to movies coming out “in the next couple of months.” When a viewer on Randolph’s live stream asked whether it was some sort of horror film, Randolph replied, “That’s a good guess.”

In 2020, the release of Christopher Nolan’s $200 million “Tenet” was in jeopardy, facing an indefinite delay as the Covid pandemic raged, leaving theaters shuttered. Over that summer, the director, a champion of the big-screen experience, wanted his espionage thriller to be the first major tentpole to debut in reopened cinemas. Former Warner Bros. Entertainment chief Ann Sarnoff and the studio’s motion picture chairman, Toby Emmerich, agreed to move forward with a theatrical release so long as Nolan forwent certain fees.
Following WarnerMedia’s 2022 merger with Discovery and ensuing regime change, newly installed motion picture group chiefs Michael DeLuca and Pamela Abdy were eager to see Nolan return to the studio; he had defected to Universal nine months before their arrival to make “Oppenheimer.” Nolan had a long history with the studio dating back to 2002’s “Insomnia.” As a goodwill gesture, Warner Bros. wrote him a seven-figure check, returning the “Tenet” fees he waived.

Ever since Christopher Nolan won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director with his blockbuster historical drama "Oppenheimer" (four words you rarely read together), the entire film industry has been keeping a close eye on the filmmaker's next move. Nolan's creative whims have always driven speculation within the business, but this time around it wasn't just about what he would do next but where he would do it.
For almost a decade, this wasn't a concern. A look back on Christopher Nolans movies proves that the director has a versatile taste in projects. From superhero movies like The Dark Knight Returns to historical biopics like Oppenheimer, Nolan has brought a diverse range of stories to the screen over the years. However, as proven by his underrated Hugh Jackman movie The Prestige, psychological mysteries hold a particular allure for Nolan. This dates back to his earliest movie, 1998s Following.

Christopher Nolan's new movie has officially been announced with a 2026 release date, and it adds to an already stacked year for Universal Pictures. Following Oppenheimer's domination at the 2024 Oscars where it won Best Picture, Best Actor, and more, questions about what the now Best Director Oscar-winning director would do next. While early reports suggested a remake of The Prisoner is in store, recent reports suggest that is no longer the case. What is known is that Christopher Nolan's next movie is coming out on July 17, 2026, with Matt Damon in talks to star.
The announcement of these new details included confirmation that Universal Pictures is handling distribution for the untitled event film. Nolan left Warner Bros. after several decades due to the fallout from Tenet and setting up Oppenheimer with Universal. The box office and awards success the director and studio shared with Oppenheimer made it seem likely that a...

Sound the Nolan news klaxon people (Bwahhhhh!), Hollywood's favourite British Chris is back in the cinematic kitchen and cooking once again. Yes, following the multiple Oscar- and BAFTA-award winning success of H-bomb biopic Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan is getting set to team up with Universal once again on his next movie. And what's more, per Deadline's reporting, it looks like Nolan is planning to bring his Oppenheimer and Interstellar star Matt Damon aboard to lead the new project.
Currently slated for release on 17 July, 2026, the plot of Nolan's 13th film — which, you'll be unsurprised to learn, is already being positioned for a big IMAX launch — is being kept entirely under wraps at this stage. We do however know that as well as eyeing Damon to lead his next movie, Nolan will also write and produce the feature alongside his long-time producing partner and wife Emma Thomas, with the plan being for...

Following the incredible success of 2023’s Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan is sticking with Universal for his 2026 project.
When Christopher Nolan left Warner Bros back in 2020 after a very public disagreement with the studio, it marked the end of a successful partnership that spanned two decades, beginning with 2002’s Insomnia.
Nolan’s sudden status as a free agent saw lots of studios attempt to lure the filmmaker to their banner. Universal that ultimately triumphed by offering the filmmaker the guarantee of theatrical releases alongside some handsome benefits.
That was in 2021, and the deal has worked out splendidly for both parties. Oppenheimer made just shy of a billion dollars at the global box office, as well as scooping up lots and lots of awards (including Oscars aplenty). It’s no surprise, then, that Nolan has elected to make Universal his home for his next, untitled project.

Deadline reports that Matt Damon is in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s next movie. The Oppenheimer director is sticking with Universal Pictures for this new project, which will be released in IMAX on July 17, 2026. The studio was keen to keep Nolan around, particularly after the massive success of Oppenheimer, which grossed $977 million worldwide and picked up seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor.
As is typical with any Nolan project, details are being kept under wraps, but sources did tell Deadline that the film is looking to kick off production in early 2025. THR’s Borys Kit added that he’s heard the film is a “father-and-son story,” which could mean just about anything. If Damon signs on the dotted line, this will mark his third time working with Nolan. The actor was featured in a supporting role in Interstellar and played General Leslie Groves,...

Christopher Nolan is staying put at Universal, with the filmmaker setting his next film at his Oppenheimer studio. His Oppenheimer supporting player Matt Damon is also in talks to star in the feature, which has a release date of July 17, 2026, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The news comes amid speculation as to where and when Nolan would make his next feature. He publicly split with longtime home Warner Bros. in late 2020 amid its controversial Project Popcorn initiative, but has expressed an openness over the past year to do business with the studio again.
The new movie is a coup for Universal, which scooped up Nolan for Oppenheimer. The film exceeded expectations at the box office and earned Nolan his first Oscars, for directing and as a producer for best picture. It took home five other wins.

Even as one of Star Wars' biggest successes, The Mandalorian still has moments where it makes no sense. From smaller details such as armor inconsistencies to bigger picture issues, The Mandalorian certainly has its share of nonsensical elements. Some of these things can still be fixed, but some are too far back and complex to be changed.
Despite being Star Wars' biggest success in recent years, The Mandalorian still has quite a few parts of its story that make no sense. Nearly five years after its debut, The Mandalorian has since run for three seasons and is now in production for its own movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu. Din Djarin and Grogu have also become staples of the franchise, cementing themselves as two of Star Wars' best characters. This success has certainly come about for a reason, as its story is well-beloved amongst Star Wars audiences - though it has still had its stumbles.

Potential Christopher Nolan adaptation of The Prisoner faces obstacle from Simpsons parody of iconic white balloon villain. The Prisoner's Rover, a white balloon-shaped automaton, is a key aspect of the show as it poses a threat to inhabitants of The Village. The Simpsons' parody of The Prisoner's Rover in a 23-year-old episode has deflated the original villain's impact and poses a challenge to any adaptation.
Rumors are circulating that Academy Award winner Christopher Nolan is looking to adapt the 1967 British television series, The Prisoner. This would mark his first adaptation since 2002's Insomnia. However, the Oppenheimer director may face one major problem if his proposed The Prisoner adaptation really is his next project, since a key aspect of The Prisoner was parodied 23 years ago in an episode of The Simpsons.

Though the title of the awards has changed over the decades, the two guest star in a drama series Emmys are among the most competitive handed out during the Creative Arts ceremony. Cicely Tyson earned the most nomination in this category with nine. Michael J. This year five drama nominees appeared in FX’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith“- Michaela Cole, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Parker Posey and John Turturro. “The Lord of the Rings” is the most successful film series in the history of the Academy Awards, winning 17 Oscars including two Best Picture awards out of 30 total nominations.
Both “The Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Return of the King” won Best Picture while Peter Jackson won Best Director for the latter movie, which holds the joint record for most Oscar wins of all time with 11 victories (the same number as “Ben-Hur” and “Titanic”). However, the lauded trilogy only received one acting citation — that was for Ian McKellen for Best Supporting Actor for “The Fellowship of the Ring.”
But while the Oscars didn’t nominate nearly enough actors in this trilogy (shout out to Andy Serkis), “The Lord of the Rings” cast is full of incredible actors who have received multiple awards nominations for other projects. Considering it is Emmys season, we’re going to focus on Emmys.

From 1969 to (almost) the present, here’s a look back at every Star Trek finale to date. It’s fair to say the quality has varied over the years…
After seven years – making it the longest-running Star Trek series on television – Star Trek: Discovery came to a (relatively inauspicious) conclusion with ‘Life, Itself’. The episode therefore now enters a small coterie of stories – that of the Star Trek series finale.
Some of the examples below were born naturally from a lengthy series run. Others emerged as the climactic element of seasons’ worth of storytelling. Still others are sudden or bizarre aberrations that resulted from an unexpected cancellation. What bracket ‘Life, Itself’ fits under, you can be the judge. What’s apparent with all of these episodes is how varied they are, and how broad the tapestry of Star Trek really is.
Let’s take a look back:

After the success of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, many fans are already anticipating the director’s next project. Unfortunately, producer Emma Thomas, his wife, has upsetting news. The filmmaker may take his time before he gets to produce another masterpiece.

The Prisoner's obscure and ambiguous ending is what made the original series historically important. Nolan's remake must maintain the original's mystery and avoid offering clear explanations to succeed. Nolan's intricate worldbuilding may face a challenge with The Prisoner's need for ambiguity and no answers.
Although Christopher Nolan's next movie has the potential to be a great remake, the directors love of intricate worldbuilding may ironically work against him in this instance. Christopher Nolans movies are nothing if not perfectly crafted. Nolan's best and worst movies all run like clockwork, with their twisty plots becoming clearer as the story progresses. The directors breakout hit Memento infamously told its tale backward, an ingenious twist that reinvented the tired whodunit formula. Since then, hits like Inception, Interstellar, and The Prestige all succeeded in making their complex, labyrinthine stories accessible for a mainstream audience.
However, Nolans rumored next movie may run into trouble.

Christopher Nolan is reportedly considering remaking the 1960s sci-fi TV show The Prisoner as a movie, conforming to his typical genres. Nolan might consider actors he has worked with before, such as Robert Pattison or John David Washington, for the James Bond-like main character. Nolan might cast new or returning actors, such as Michael Caine, Vanessa Kirby, or Aaron Taylor-Johnson, in supporting and/or antagonistic roles.
Casting Christopher Nolan's possible movie remake of the 1960s TV show The Prisoner is key to its success. Yet Nolan has previously worked with several actors who would be perfect for major roles. Additionally, Nolan's status as a director will always attract Hollywood's biggest stars, despite some never having worked with Nolan before. The British TV show The Prisoner follows a James Bond-like character trapped in a strange, psychedelic Village, leading to a battle of wits as he tries to escape, and his captors...

The annals of unmade Christopher Nolan films are not particularly long. Perhaps one of the legendary projects mentioned in the past was Nolan’s unrealized Howard Hughes project—some brief elements of which he folded into Bruce Wayne’s recluse period in “The Dark Knight Rises.” There was also, at one point in the past, Nolan’s intentions of remaking the surreal 1960s TV series, “The Prisoner,” created by and starring Patrick McGoohan (which is loosely rumored to be among the next projects he is thinking about making post “Oppenheimer”).
