Normally there's nothing to say against older films. Normally they provide a good story as well as good actors. But this film I had to watch for school is not worthy to be watched. The original roman of Theodor Fontane is a very good book, while the film tries to imitade it and that on the worst way. The most concerning in this film is the very strong ideological touch of it. The book is interpreted really bad. Both sound and scenery are partly very agressive to the senses and are as responsibel of stopping you enjoying the story as all the non-professional actors, but Effi Briest herself.
