MGM is looking to bring back the classic animated character Pink Panther in a big way as it has set Jeff Fowler direct a new live-action/CGI hybrid feature film centered on the iconic cat. Nostalgic baby boomers will like this new movie and TV licensing deal with Metro-Golydwn-Mayer Studios. It will enable Amazon Prime customers to stream the late 1980s TV series thirtysomething — as well as Baby Boom, the 1987 film starring Diane Keaton. The Prime Instant Video package also will include MGM’s hit films Silence of the Lambs, Dances with Wolves, Rain Man, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, and The Terminator. The original Pink Panther car - one of the most iconic vehicles to appear on screen - is expected to fetch between £50,000 and £100,000 when it goes under the hammer next month.
Known as the Panthermobile, it was created in 1969 and seen in the opening and closing credits of animated series The Pink Panther Show.
The car was designed by Hollywood vehicle stylist Jay Ohrberg, also behind the Knight Rider Kitt, Back To The Future DeLorean, three generations of the Batmobile, Dukes of Hazzard General Lee and Starsky & Hutch's Ford Gran Torino.
The Pink Panther car was understood to be owned by Ohrberg until auctioned four years ago, when it was bought for £88,000 by the current owner.
The vehicle is in totally original condition, though at 42 years old it would benefit from some sympathetic restoration, and though the engine isn't currently running, it was believed to be working when the vehicle...
