The first series led to a court case, the outcome of which became legal precedent for 'breach of confidence'. Schuman had been introduced to the original story by an existing 1970s rock trio, Rock Bottom. When they were gradually pushed out and received no credit, they were forced to sue. They won, with substantial damages awarded.
