Another uncredited adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's novel Red Harvest. Other uncredited adaptations of the hardboiled gumshoe novel include Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo with Toshiro Mifune, Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars with Clint Eastwood and Walter Hill's Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis. Ironically, the novel has never been officially adapted into film. The plot of the novel follows a detective who arrives at a town plagued by gang warfare where no one knows him and then patiently proceeds to pit the two main rival criminal factions in town against one another hoping that they'll wipe themselves out.
Luisa Maneri had a topless scene in this movie at the age of sixteen. "My father is a psychoanalyst, and therefore absolutely permissive ... He never prevented anything from me and my sister, thinking that otherwise we would have had the classic youth reaction of oppose the parent. So when I said I wanted to do these things, he told me to do them without any problem. He always thought that sooner or later I would have changed my mind ... However I was usually topless at the beach, at the time I did not understand what it meant to do in the cinema. I consider myself very shy about what the feelings can be, but not in moving normally."-she said.
