Learning Voller is working for Dahlman and is holding Deborah hostage so McGowan can pay him in gold. McGowan hires Blade to get back Deborah and deal with Voller. But, McGowan soon learns Blade is the son of Gerald Merton (Rik Battaglia) a land owner whom many years ago McGowan tried to evict Merton from his land after buying Merton's land under territorial confession. But, Merton was killed when a tree was cut down by McGowan's men which collapsed on top of him which Blade witnessed with his mother when he was a boy and he swore vengeance upon McGowan. But, McGowan pleads with Blade to kill Voller whom wants to take control of his mining empire and believes Blade is the only man who can stop him.
According to writer and director Sergio Martino, Mannaja is the Italian word for hatchet. Hatchet is Blade's weapon of choice. The film's english title is A Man Called Blade.

Yes your a good man No one will put you down Your feeling is right Don't worry man Keep going you know the way That's the right way Keep going
You're alone A solitary man

Yes. John Steiner has a fear of horses and writer and director John Steiner came up with the idea of having John Steiner standing on a plank for the closeup shots, to make it look if he was riding a horse.
Blade (Maurizio Merli) is called Blade, because he has a reputation for using a hatchet in a fight, instead of a gun. When he introduces himself to Voller, he says "Those who know me, call me Blade. Because I've got sort of a habit, of letting this do my talking for me." We do not know what Blade's real name is. His father is Gerald Merton. So it is likely, Blade's real name is Gerald Merton Jr.
Johnny Johnny is a traveling impresario. Johnny Johnny, Angela and the other prostitutes found Blade, whom was injured in a rockfall. Johnny Johnny nursed Blade back to health and they hid him in his stagecoach. When Voller and his men went looking for Blade to finish him off. Blade returned with Johnny Johnny to Suttonville. Where, Johnny Johnny and the ladies entertained the townsfolk and miners. But, McGowan and his men broke off the show and Angela was whipped in the back. But, Blade came to the rescue and told McGowan to call off his men. When McGowan hires Blade to get back Deborah and deal with Voller. Blade asked McGowan to allow Johnny Johnny, to set up his own saloon in Suttonville, to give the miners something to look forward to, much to McGowan's reluctance. Voller, Dorman and his gang attack the saloon. Johnny Johnny is shot and killed and Angela was taken, in order to force Blade to reveal, where he has hidden Voller's gold.
When Blade was a boy. McGowan bought Gerald Merton's land under territorial confession. McGowan and his men tried to evict Merton, his wife and young Blade from their land. McGowan's men started chopping down the trees. But, one tree had collapsed on top of Gerald Merton resulting in his death, which McGowan claimed was an accident and that Blade's father wasn't supposed to die. For years, Blade had sworn revenge upon McGowan whom he held responsible for the death of his father.
It is not known why Burt Craven has a dead or alive bounty, placed on his head. He is a small time crook. When Blade shows Voller, the wanted poster, it reads: "Wanted! $5000 Burt Craven. Dead or Alive. Will be paid for the U.S. Government."
Burt Craven, a wanted outlaw had been captured by Blade and Blade chopped off Burt Craven's hand with his hatchet (later replaced by a steel hook), But, he set Craven free after a little shootout with Voller's men. Obviously, Craven wanted to get back at Blade for chopping his hand off. After rescuing Blade and nursing him back to health in a cave, Burt returned to Suttonville and at the bar he told a female customer about how he lost his hand and offered Voller to lead his men to the cave and kill Blade and be paid in return. Unaware Blade had deceived Craven and knew he lied to him and that he would ride back with Voller's men to kill him, Blade made new hatchets to fight off Voller's men.
Burt Craven, Dorman and his men arrive at the cave where Craven nursed Blade back to health. Four of Dorman's men enter the cave whilst Craven waits outside. Blade manages to kill two men with hatchets he made whilst he was blind. He takes the 2nd man's pistol and bullets and guns down the other two men. Blade leaves the cave, but still can't look into the sun. Blade confronts Burt Craven whom accuses Blade of lying about being blind and Blade tells Craven that he was warning Craven because he could see through his lies. Blade engages Craven in a gundraw, but Craven is shot and killed. Blade rides back to Suttonville. Suttonville is shrouded in fog. Blade arrives and shouts "I've come to kill you, Voller!" Voller unleashes his dogs, but Vollers dogs are shot and killed by Blade. Voller starts shooting randomly as he cannot see Blade in the fog. Blade appears, but before Voller can shoot Blade. Blade throws a hatchet through the air and strikes Voller in the chest killing him. A mournful Deborah cries over Voller and Blade walks away and leaves.
