Motylem jestem, czyli romans czterdziestolatka

I am not sure if "Motylem jestem, czyli romans czterdziestolatka" (I Am a Butterfly) could work as a standalone film for people who are not fans of the cult Polish TV series "40-year-old". Encouraged by the huge success of the TV series, Jerzy Gruza and Krzysztof Teodor Toeplitz decided to develop one of the episodes from the life of the title character into a feature film. The plot of "I am a Butterfly" takes place in the cramped flat and at the construction site of the Central Railway Station. The characters known from the series also show up. The role of Stefan's new friend, Irena Orska, was played by the then-popular singer Irena Jarocka, and her hit from 1974, "I am a Butterfly," became the title song of the film. Being a fan of "40-year-old" I liked the movie too, but I have to admit that it is an entertainment of a lightly lower quality than the TV original. But it is still a light, pleasant, and funny short version of the TV series in a nutshell, with the atmosphere of the Polish People's Republic. Good acting, a raw Warsaw atmosphere interwoven with scenes from the suburban forest and nature. And even though I like classical music, I have always liked Irena Jarocka, and it was great to see that she did well in this film.
