During the dance contest, Frannie is dancing with Marv in blue platform-soled shoes. But after they win the contest and go to the stage to collect their prize, a wide shot reveals that she is barefoot. Near the end of the film, Bobby Speed is shown putting a record from Motown Records inside the sleeve for MECO's Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk. The album was put out by Millenium Records, which was at the time a subsidiary of Casablanca Records (co-producer of the film with Motown Records). In Meco's long career, he has also been associated with, in chronological order, Casablanca Records and RCA, but never with Motown Records.

Halfway through the movie, Frannie and Jeannie are sitting on a car. Just as they start walking away, the car starts to drive off with Jeannie's purse on it (with all their money). As Jeannie and Frannie start chasing after it you can see Jeannie look down to find her mark to stop in the right spot for the camera shot.
When the Commodores take the stage toward the end of the film there are no mic cords connected to their microphones.
Shortly after the start of the film, Alec R Costandinos' "Romeo and Juliet", which is released by Casablanca, is heard on the soundtrack, but a different record (on the maroon-and-yellow Gordy label) is shown playing in the DJ booth.
When Bobby Speed spells Floyd's name on the phone, he spells it: F-O-L-I-D.
