When Lansing finds his father's body chained up in his cabin on the U-boat there is a blue officer's peaked cap on the desk next to him. German U-boat commanders were distinguished from other naval officers by wearing a white peaked cap, regardless of season, especially when aboard their boats.
When everyone is outside after the generator explosion it is blowing a blizzard, but the flames are rising vertically with minimal wind disturbance rather than being virtually horizontal, revealing that wind machines are being used just on the area where the actors are.
