Featured review
While struggling to write his latest book, a writer of "erotic literature" notices that his attractive neighbor (Lorainne DeSalle) leaves her apartment at 9 PM every night, which inspires him to create a lot of erotic fantasies based around her and her supposedly secret life. After a chance meeting though, he has sex with her and finds out that truth can sometimes be even stranger (and more disturbing)than fiction. This is is basically a very early version of what today would be called an "erotic thriller", a genre which the Italians definitely deserve much of the credit (or the blame) for. This does have all the worst aspects of the "genre"--a highly contrived plot, pretentious Zalman King-style pseudo-eroticism, a horrid soft jazz score, and generally stilted acting and dialogue that is made even worse by the crappy English dubbing.
Fortunately, though this movie is much more twisted and perverse than most later "erotic thriller" offerings. In one of his fantasies, his heroine, "Bianca Maria", won't let him touch her, but forces him to undress her with his teeth, and then has sex with his butler while he watches. In another fantasy, "Bianca Maria" goes to a porn theater and picks up a dorky, virginal soldier and winds up screwing him in filthy toilet stall. Then she goes to dinner with her fiancé, but runs off and winds up in a fishermen's shack being sodomized in a fishing net by a crusty old fisherman. The most surreal sequence involves her picking up Ajita Wilson (an African-American and alleged transsexual who was ubiquitous in European sleaze films of that era)and going back to her place for some hot interracial, lesbian action--which really takes a turn for the bizarre when Wilson's (very well-endowed) dwarf husband shows up and wants a threesome! And I won't give away the ending, but it's definitely not the kind of the thing you'd see in a more modern-day "erotic thriller".
Lorraine DeSalle is most famous for being in two Italian sleaze classics "House by the Edge of the Park" and "Cannibal Ferox". (She wasn't a great actress, but, man, did she have a nice body!). The director Nello Rossati was responsible for the Ursula Andress late-night cable classic "The Sensuous Nurse", so he's certainly competent at this kind of thing. This really isn't too bad for an "erotic thriller"
