Some special life lessons from children

Filmmakers Carol and Ross Lowell decided to make a film about the brotherly love interactions of their two kids, Evan and Josh, showing the spontaneity of children's actions while playing, talking and all the emotion, laughter and cries is involved in such acts. Put on celluloid, shown to the world and an Oscar nomination was conquered.

The film is seen through the optic of 6-year-old Evan and how he interacts with his younger brother Josh, while doing basic stuff kids do. It's a quite interesting take he has on things, specially how he feels the need for his brother to tell him that he loves him or the way he feels sadder because the young one doesn't act more caring for him but they have a great bond and are very communicative with each other. Of course they have some disagreements but it's all so small and never troubling.

While it might look way too cute, positive and without much depth to reveal (but does the children's world need that, anyway), the main value of a film like "Oh Brother, My Brother" is for us grown ups to look back at a distant past and find some similar childhood experiences or some good things that are kept hidden in the memory. Above all, how kids see things in a quite clear and simple manner, and how loving they can be. 8/10.
