After shooting, parts of the original negatives of A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe were stolen, which is one of the reasons why there are practically no identical or even complete versions of the movie available worldwide. The Italian version is cut the least, especially because it contains a two-minute scene all the other versions are lacking. The shortest version is the old German version lacking about nine minutes.
