This was a fun movie that made girls between the ages of 9-14 have something to be excited about during the 80's. Girls wanted to marry them, boys wanted to (secretly) be them...Menudo was the Spanish "Drifter's" of the 60's, the Spanish 80's version of Grease, the pre- "Boys to Men" of the 90's and Back Street Boys of the late 90's, and so on. It's a group many of the girls of the 80's screamed for. They also were part of the cross-over era where other cultures were breaking into American music. So while the movie is kind of corny, tell me what 80's cultural experience wasn't? If you want your child to share in some good old-fashioned, romantic, Spanish fun... it's worth watching this movie... if you can still find a copy of it. By the way, you can learn Spanish from it too, the music is fun enough where kids can learn the lyrics and words and actually learn the language.
