Like many of us, Kelly Clarkson is still celebrating the long-anticipated reunion of ’NSync last fall. In her latest Kellyoke, the talk show host covered “Better Place,” the track that brought the band back together for Trolls Band Together.
“Just let me take you to a better place/ I’m gonna make you kiss the sky tonight,” she sang, dressed in a light-blue dress and eye shadow. The performance hears Clarkson taking a stripped, jazzy approach to the pop song, while weaving in her signature high notes.

Wishy, the indie rock quintet fronted by Indiana songwriters Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites, have announced their debut album, Triple Seven, out August 16th via Winspear.
Triple Seven arrives after the band’s pair of 2023 EPs — Mana and last December’s excellent Paradise. Previously, Krauter released two solo albums and played in the dream pop band Hoops, while Pitchkites fronted the electro-pop band Push Pop. Their dreamy, guitar-forward sound is indebted ’90s shoegaze and indie rock staples like My Bloody Valentine and The Sundays.
As a preview for Triple Seven, the band has shared “Love on the Outside,” an anthemic power pop track with Krauter taking the lead. Sounding like a forgotten late ’90s alternative radio hit, “Love on the Outside” features a seismic chorus and a blistering bridge that turns into a feedback-ridden outro; Krauter narrates the beginning modes of a relationship, and all the while, the band toggles...

The German-language film Paradise‘s opening act sets up a movie that is both mysterious and intriguing, leading us to believe we may finally have an original sci-fi mystery that’s unique in its story and made well. But instead, after 15 minutes, it follows the same old uninspired tropes and gives us no more science, only tired cliches and reversed character arcs. I mean, I was actually kind of excited by the fact that a woman leads a company that says, “Stop being ageist,” but at the same time uses the procedures that her company provides for herself to make her younger. Come to think of it, the Cillian Murphy starrer “In Time...

Almost Paradise fans, get ready for a summer with extra blessings, because season 2 is just around the corner! After season one finished airing back in mid-2020, it seemed like we might have seen the last of Alex Walker (Christian Kane) and his new detective friends Kai Mendoza (Samantha Richelle) and Ernesto Almarez (Arthur Acuña), but our favorite gang of Philippines-based crime-solvers are back on the case this July in a brand-new, ten-episode season.

Do not adjust your phone screen. You are not experiencing deja vu. Netflix’s list of new releases for July 2023 does indeed look quite a bit like last month’s.
That’s because the biggest new arrival this month is the conclusion of The Witcher season 3 on July 27. It seems like only 29 days ago that The Witcher season 3 premiered. And that’s because it was! Now Henry Cavill’s arc as Geralt of Rivia is set to officially end with this batch of three episodes. Get ready for the Liam Hemsworth era, Witcher fans. Other Netflix Original series of note in July 2023 are The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 on July 6, Sonic Prime season 2 on July 13 and the animated comedy Captain Fall on July 28.
Meanwhile it’s a big month for Netflix’s original movies department. Adam Devine-starring comedy The Out-Laws premieres on July 7. That will be followed by Bird Box...

Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Local Natives dig into their emotional new track, “Paradise.”
It was 2021, live music had just returned, and Local Natives were set to take the stage at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater. As this writer can attest, the show was brilliant — but little did we know there was some serious anguish bubbling up in the band, and that 2021 show was almost their last.
Thankfully, Local Natives found their way together, and are now gearing up for the release of Time Will Wait for No One, their fifth studio album and their first since 2019’s Violet Street. A little over a week before the album’s release on July 7th comes “Paradise,” the most recent slice of Time Will Wait for No One after this year’s “Just Before The Morning” and “Nye.

"This woman stole 40 years from you. We're going to take them back." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for a German sci-fi thriller feature film titled Paradise, from filmmaker Boris Kunz. It's premiering this week at the 2023 Munich Film Festival, hence the trailer dropping now. It's a dystopian look at a future where we've commoditized our "youth", human aging, to always stay young. A man sees the dark side of the time-manipulating biotech company he works for when a crushing debt forces his wife to give up 40 years of her own life. Trade your life for money: In the not-too-distant future, a method of transferring years of your life from one person to another has changed the world forever and turned biotech start-up Aeon into a billion-dollar pharmaceutical company. When his wife has to pay debts by giving up 38 years, everything changes for this couple. The film stars Kostja Ullmann,...

Now this sounds right up Jason Bateman’s alley. Deadline reports that Jason Bateman is set to star in and direct a series adaptation of David Gauvey Herbert’s Esquire magazine article Daddy Ball for Netflix and Aggregate.
Daddy Ball deals with dad-on-dad youth sports rivalries, but on the Long Island Inferno, two fathers, both with complicated pasts, took it all too far. There were claims of stalking, corrupt cops, and mob connections. Neither man was ever the same. Daddy Ball, which will be retitled for the series, has the potential to be exactly the type of dark comedy that Jason Bateman excels at.

Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek has readied his third solo album, Haunted Mountain. The complete LP arrives August 25th via the artist’s new label home 4Ad, while its title track is out now.
Produced by Meek’s resident pedal steel player Mat Davidson, Haunted Mountain was recorded live in two weeks at Sonic Ranch outside El Paso, Texas. Despite this raw approach, Buck Meek and Davidson aimed to create a considerably more polished record than their previous releases. Guitarist Adam Brisbin, drummer Austin Vaughn, bassist Ken Woodward, and keyboardist (and Buck’s brother) Dylan Meek joined the artists in playing in one big room, where cell phones, headphones, and even talking were prohibited.
Thematically, the new album is an exercise in love songs, a difficult feat, according to Buck Meek. “Not break-up songs, but an actual love song written in earnest? That is taboo now,” the artist said in a statement.

London and Paris-based Film Constellation head Fabien Westerhoff officially announced the launch of its in-house production arm Constellation Productions exactly a year ago, during the 2022 edition of Cannes.
Twelve months on, the exec is taking stock with a sense of satisfaction.
“Projects are often announced and then you never know whether anything really happens,” he tells Deadline. “In one year, we’ve managed to create a diverse slate of films that are actually getting made.”
The first film to come down the pipeline will be UK director Alice Troughton’s first film The Lesson, starring Daryl McCormack, Richard E. Grant and Julie Delpy, which world premieres at Tribeca in June.
Westerhoff takes a producer credit alongside London-based producer Camille Gatin at Poison Chef Production, Cassandra Sigsgaard at Jeva Films and Judy Tossell at Berlin company Egoli Tossell Film.
With his sales background, the exec financed the film through Focus Features and Bleecker Street.

Anohni has announced My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross, the first studio album under her Anohni and the Johnsons moniker in more than a decade. The LP is out July 7th via Secretly Canadian and Rough Trade, and features the lead single, “It Must Change.”

Anohni began working on My Back Was a Bridge with soul producer Jimmy Hogarth in 2022, when they created a series of demos together before assembling a studio band including Leo Abrahams, Chris Vatalaro, Sam Dixon, and string arranger Rob Moose to record the project. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Charlie Day’s feature directorial debut hits theaters Friday when Roadside releases Fool’s Paradise, a satire in which he plays a man who is unable to speak but becomes an accidental Hollywood star. Day, who voices Luigi in the smash hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is no stranger to leading his own projects.
Back when he was stuck in the audition trenches, Day met fellow aspiring actors Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton, and the trio realized they shared not only comedic sensibilities but also frustrations about landing roles. They started making short films at home, and these would ultimately evolve into It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which premiered on FX in August 2005 with all three as executive producers. (It moved to Fxx in 2013.)

Charlie Day is a talented guy. The man has brought the humor for years thanks to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And yes, Mr. Day shined in many a feature film including Fist Fight, Hotel Artemis, and the Lego Movie franchise. The actor is back, and this time he’s the writer, director, and producer of his latest, Fool’s Paradise. Taking on the insanity of Hollywood, Fool’s also features a terrific collection of talent that includes Kate Beckinsale, Ken Jeong, Jason Sudeikis, Adrien Brody, Ray Liotta, and even a few of his Sunny cast members. It’s a satire with sweetness, and it’s incredibly charming.

Charlie Day's "biggest regret" is that Ray Liotta did not live to see the reaction to their new movie 'Fool's Paradise'.The 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' star wrote and directed the comedy which features Ray - who died in May 2022 aged 67 - alongside actors including Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Jason Sudeikis, Ken Jeong, Edie Falco and John Malkovich but he passedaway 12 months before the film's release - and Charlie feels bad about the delays which meant the actor never got to see the project hit cinemas.Speaking on an episode of 'Sunday Today with Willie Geist', Day explained: "My biggest regret is that Ray is not going to get to see the audience see him."Ray would text me every three months like: 'Hey, man, what's going on with that movie we did? When is it getting out?' And I would say: 'Ray, I'm so sorry.

Adam Sandler may have done some impressive action sequences in “Murder Mystery 2,” but it sounds like he’s not jumping at the chance to do his own stunts again anytime soon.
The actor tells me he underwent hip replacement surgery not long after he and Jennifer Aniston wrapped the follow-up to their original “Murder Mystery” comedy.
“My god damn hip, I had to change that at the end of the movie,” Sandler told me Tuesday at the film’s premiere at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. “I had been doing so many movies in a row. I did ’Spaceman’ and I was hanging in harness all the time. I kept saying, ‘Something’s going on with my hip, man. I’m in trouble.’ And then during this and this other movie I did I was like, ‘Yeah, I definitely gotta x-ray that thing,’ and we were in trouble.

As soon as the women step out of the limo on the first night of The Bachelor, viewers wonder which ones will end up on Bachelor in Paradise. Not to worry, because fans do the same thing with the men on The Bachelorette.
ABC has already announced the next Bachelorette will be Charity Lawson, a fan favorite from the current season with Zach Shallcross. As The Bachelor winds down, who else might be joining the spinoff series Bachelor in Paradise?
Will we see Ariel Frenkel on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’? Zach and Ariel on ‘The Bachelor’ | ABC / Contributor
Ariel Frenkel from New York City made it all the way to overnight dates, where she did not have sex with Zach because he took “sex off the table.”
The longer Ariel lasted through the season, the more the audience loved her. She described herself as “adventurous, sophisticated, [and] unapologetically herself” in her Bachelor bio.

Oscar-nominated and double Palme d’Or winning film company Plattform Production has premiered its latest film, “A Tiger in Paradise,” by director and editor Mikel Cee Karlsson, as part of a live event that received a standing ovation at Cph:dox, one of Europe’s leading documentary film festivals.
Set in the picturesque Swedish countryside, the doc takes viewers on a surreal journey into the inner world of Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter José González.
Peppered with songs from his latest album “Local Valley,” introspective musings, self-deprecation and playful special effects involving moving portraits, looping techniques and Conway’s famous Game of Life computation model, the film opens with a disarmingly candid disclosure by González about his past mental health issues.
Karlsson tells Variety: “We used José’s mental illness as a jumping off point, in a way, to discuss themes that both of us think are really interesting. We read a lot of the same books.

Bravo New World: Seidl Returns with Desolate Portrait of Fallen Hustler
There’s always a healthy thread of humor lurking under the despair of Ulrich Seidl’s films, both documentary and otherwise, and this is most certainly the case in his long awaited return to narrative filmmaking with Rimini, a cross-cultural portrait of a hustler hit with a karma bullet. It’s been nearly a decade since Seidl unleashed his perversely enjoyable Paradise trilogy, though his documentary features have continued to unspool, as with the surprisingly sweet In the Basement (2014) and the disturbing Safari (2016). The groundwork of his latest feature is basically the story of a failed playboy gone to seed reuniting with his daughter, though undercurrents of cultural trauma bubble up sporadically.…...
