This wasn't a series we ever watched in reruns or syndication, so my only viewing of this episode was when it originally aired. Some forty years later, I didn't remember much about it. LOL But when I saw the helicopter, suddenly I remembered the following sequence. :-)
The show starts out with a couple of fairly standard tropes ... the spy who passes on information just before he's killed, then the spy who passes that information on to a civilian. After that, the story goes its own way, with a wayward message ... accidentally discovered ... that only a housewife might understand. Then you have another standard spy trope ... an odd way of passing on coded information. Forget that the method makes no sense compared to other possible methods, the show is good run and worth the watch.

In 1983 Scarecrow and Mrs. King made it's debut with a crazy episode about a suburban mother of two who accidentally becomes involved in the undercover world of spy verses spy. The rest is history as the sophisticated agent, code name "Scarecrow" finds himself thrown together with this intuitive and remarkably loyal civilian. Over the next four years this unlikely pair become reluctant assistance, tolerant co-workers, spirited partners, the love of each others lives and finally man and wife. The transition is gradual, it sweet and the chemistry between Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner is unsurpassed. In a day and age when there is no real romance left in TV and the movies, when two people meet and fall into bed before they even exchange phone numbers, it is refreshing to watch a show that has adventure, intrigue, romance, friendship and a true sense of gentleness that this show brings. I would rather watch reruns of Scarecrow and Mrs King than most of the dribble that is on TV.
Scarecrow and Mrs. King is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Being 16, I found it amazing that I enjoy a show that originally aired before I was born. Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner did a wonderful job portraying the characters Amanda King and Lee Stetson. I love how even though it was a story about the government and federal agents, the show still had wonderful humor and timeless romance....
A very enjoyable show--something you didn't have to worry about the kids watching, but definitely for the grown-ups. Great chemistry between the two stars--Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner. A wonderful Action/Adventure/Comedy/Romance/Drama..... Yup. It had it all.
As a graduate student in Counseling Psychology trying to finish my thesis... and after hearing the pain of clients for several hours... Well, everything melts away when I come home and watch an episode of "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." I absolutely love the romance and HUMOR in this show! This show is most identified as a romance-adventure... but, quite honestly, I think it is WAY funnier than most of the crap "comedies" on TV today. Many, many great quips and barbs along the way... and even the choice to put Beverly Garland (Dotty, the mother) in a sweater that has "A bit Dotty" stitched in it is subtly hilarious! Aside from some modern classics like "Arrested Development," few TV comedies can actually deliver their humor the way it's done (with true hilarity and void of smug "Hey look at me I'm funny!" style) in "Scarecrow."

This was a great show. Bruce Boxleitner and Kate Jackson had great chemistry on-screen. Unfortunately, the writing went downhill as the show progressed, but the first season is one of the best I've ever seen. I still go back and watch old episodes whenever I get nostalgic about my childhood.

I've have always loved the show. I watched the reruns over and over. There are two things I wish for. One, for the show to be put on DVD, and for them to get together for a final movie in which they tell everyone they had gotten married. I'm really missing the re-runs about now. I remember always being relaxed while watching them work together, and it was fun to see the trouble she'd get into, but of course he always came to the rescue. He was always the night and shining armor in my eyes. Melissa Gilbert is very lucky to be married to someone like him and I wish them both well. I also wish Kate Jackson well too. I wish to see her in more movies. If anyone knows anything about the show possibly getting onto the DVD's, can you please let me know?
