The comic book version of "The Boys" ran for 72 issues, but as issue numbering can often be, this is misleading. Writer Garth Ennis also penned three six-issue "The Boys" mini-series that are essential parts of the story: "Herogasm," "Highland Laddie," and "Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker." Counting these and the 2020 epilogue mini-series "Dear Becky," "The Boys" is really 98 issues.
When "The Boys" was collected as trade paperbacks, these miniseries were included as if they were part of the series' main run.
"Herogasm" is a business as usual arc of the Boys infiltrating a Supe orgy. ("Herogasm" later became one of the best episodes of the "Boys" TV series.) "Highland Laddie," meanwhile, is about Hughie taking a break from Supe-hunting and going back to Scotland, whereas "Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker" finally fills in the backstory of antihero Billy Butcher.
Called back to England for his abusive father's funeral, Butcher remembers his life story.

7 Must Watch Episodes Of The Boys - Main Image
The Boys has become one of the most celebrated series of this century. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robinson's comic book series of the same name, The Boys is a satirical spin on the genre.
While the show has deviated from the comics, it is still regarded as one of the best superhero shows.
With Season 4 just around the corner, we decided to settle the debate on the best episodes of The Boys (so far).
While such debate is subjective, some factors certainly make up a great episode—excellent writing, cinematics, and, in the case of The Boys, a ton of gore.
So, in this article, we list the episodes of The Boys that check all the boxes required for greatness.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Episode 207 of “The Boys,” titled “Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker.”)
The penultimate episode of “The Boys” Season 2 launched Friday, ending with a literally explosive scene that threw our heroes completely off guard and sets us up for — possibly — an even more explosive finale next week.
At the end of the hour, titled “Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker,” Hughie (Jack Quaid), Butcher (Karl Urban) and the gang sit around the TV to watch the Vought congressional hearings on C-span, after all of their hard work teaming up with Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) and blackmailing former Vought Cso Jonah Vogelbaum (John Doman) into testifying, after their star witness Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) committed suicide. But just when the proceedings begin they’re short circuited by the sudden mass murder of several hearing attendees, whose heads explode at random with absolutely no indication of how or why the massacre is occurring.

Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) lit himself up — literally — at the end of this week’s episode of “The Boys,” committing suicide in Vought International headquarters ahead of his scheduled appearance to testify against his old company before congress. He made his fiery decision once he had helped Hughie (Jack Quaid) break into the building to save Starlight (Erin Moriarty), deciding to torch himself in front of the spot where his old statue with the other Supes of the Seven used to reside, but has since been replaced by new members.
Ashmore tells TheWrap Lamplighter’s choice to die by his own hand was made before he even left the safe house with Hughie. It was actually made at the end of last week’s episode of “The Boys,” when Colonel Mallory (Laila Robins) pointed...

During the final minutes of the penultimate episode of The Boys’ second season, ‘Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker’, there was a mad scramble when a crucial courtroom showdown set up by Mallory and our gang went very badly awry.
The plan seemed fairly fool proof: with help from the series’ very own version of Aoc, Congresswomen Victoria Neuman, the team would force retired Vought scientist Dr. Jonah Vogelbaum – key in the creation of supes like Homelander – to testify about the company’s history of experiments with Compound V; experiments that are still being carried out at the secret Sage Grove Center facility, where Vought is trying to stabilize its effects on adults.
Unfortunately, just as Vogelbaum (John Doman) started to spill the beans while the world watched, the judge who was presiding over the hearing got his damn head exploded, and then Vogelbaum suffered the same fate,...

The Season 2 finale of The Boys is in our crosshairs, but first we’ve got a penultimate episode that will dial up the tension between our scrappy gang and The Seven even further.
In the trailer for episode 7, ‘Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker’, Butcher (Karl Urban) investigates a little deeper behind the scenes for Victoria Neuman – The Boys’ own version of Aoc – and continues to wonder if Becca’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) could turn into a bad egg, just like his dad. Meanwhile, Homelander (Antony Starr) introduces his new fascist bae Stormfront (Aya Cash) to Ryan, much to Becca’s dismay, and outs Starlight (Erin Moriarty) as a mole in The Seven, publicly branding her a traitor. Hughie (Jack Quaid) turns to his new supe acquaintance Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) to get Annie out of danger, but it’s an extremely risky gambit.
Here’s an official synopsis for episode seven,...
