One of four films photographed by Robby Müller in 1984, with the other films being: Paris, Texas (1984), Repo Man (1984) and Body Rock (1984).
Cinematographer Robby Müller also works as an actor in the film, his only acting credit. His previous acting role was an uncredited bit part in Saint Jack (1979).
The main casino that appears in the film is Casino da Madeira, also known as Casino Park Hotel, located in Madeira, Portugal. It opened its activities in 1976, after a decade of its original project. While often credited as being a work by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (who is credited in the film), he revealed in 2007 that he never considered it as his own project since his original design was drastically modified.
