Well, The Couple Next Door episode 5, "The Ultimatum," that's just been released on Starz today was certainly jam-packed! If you streamed the episode, you know what I'm talking about. Though if you're waiting for tonight, I can tell you guys you're in for some interesting revelations. Now that we've reached this part of the season, when is the finale? The Couple Next Door episode 6, aka the season finale, premieres Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 on Starz. Yup, that's right. We only have one more episode to go now as season 1 is only six episodes long. As always, the finale will drop at 12 a.m. Et on the app and air at 8 p.m. Et on the Starz channel.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have announced that their first three studio albums will be reissued on limited-edition vinyl.

Celebrating their early work, the married duo will unveil the new editions of the albums — 1979’s In the Heat of the Night, 1980’s Crimes of Passion, and 1981’s Precious Time — on September 13th via Ume.

In addition to being available on standard black vinyl, each album will be printed on a special edition color variant. In the Heat of the Night will be offered in tangerine vinyl, Crimes of Passion will have an opaque magenta option, and Precious Time will be available in opaque fruit punch. Matthew Rhys is looking back on a painful moment from more than 20 years ago.

The “Americans” actor recalled starring opposite Kathleen Turner in a stage performance of “The Graduate.” Turner played Mrs. Robinson while Rhys was cast as Ben Braddock, the future son-in-law she seduces. The play was based on the 1967 Mike Nichols film of the same name.

During the 2000 stage performance, an unauthorized photo of Turner appearing nude onstage leaked to the press.

“I think about that moment so often,” Rhys told U.K.’s The Times of not intervening when the flash went off in the audience. Rhys instead looked to co-star Turner to stop the live show.

“We locked eyes for a second, and because she was such a force and spoke her mind very freely and was very direct and straightforward, I thought, ‘If anyone in this world could stop this production, it would be Kathleen Turner.

Good news for those who wish to know what their Twitter feed’s jacking off to: the Criterion Channel are launching an erotic thriller series that includes De Palma’s Dressed to Kill and Body Double, the Wachowskis’ Bound, and so many other movies to stir up that ceaseless, fruitless “why do movies have sex scenes?” discourse. (Better or worse than middle-age film critics implying they have a hard-on? I’m so indignant at being forced to choose.) Similarly lurid, if not a bit more frightening, is a David Lynch retro that includes the Criterion editions of Lost Highway and Inland Empire (about which I spoke to Lynch last year), a series of shorts, and a one-month-only engagement for Dune, a film that should be there in perpetuity.

The IP pipeline connecting the comic book sector to Hollywood continues to pump at a robust pace (and superhero movies now account for 10 of the top 25 highest-grossing films of all time) but the flow isn’t entirely a single-direction one.

Last summer, I wrote up a roll call round-up about the parade of Hollywood types (J.J. Abrams and John Carpenter among them) who have dipped into the world of comic books and graphic novels as visiting creative talent.

Today, a follow-up with new batch of show-biz citizens playing tourist in the vivid landscape of comics: Jack Black, Jay Baruchel, and Twiztid, the venerable Detroit hip-hop duo. Let’s take them in reverse order…

Twiztid: The hip-hop tandem of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide have been on the music scene since 1997 but they qualify for dual citizenship in the comics sector these days.

When you have read as many comics down the years as me, literally in the tens of thousands, you’ve pretty much seen it all. Quirky indie books? Check. Blockbuster multi-title crossovers? Check. Inter-company books? Check. Monthly books published on time? Che….er, well I’ve nearly seen it all. Point is, when you see something a little different it does tend to catch your eye. DC’s Crimes of Passion, echoing those old lurid EC Comics books, certainly caught my eye. Essentially, it’s DC’s attempt at a Valentine’s Day Special, and why not. Actually, it is ten attempts at telling a decent Valentine’s Day story, as there are ten short stories in total, all with different characters and creative teams. Will we get lucky this Valentine’s? Let’s take a look.

Sina Grace & Mike Norton tackle DC's funniest hero and the results are predictably excellent.

It's not a massive retcon, or a huge character being brought back to prominence, by my favorite low-key development in comics in 2020 so far is Sina Grace gettting more work at DC. He wrote one of my favorite lost period X-comics and probably the definitive Iceman story, and his work at Boom! is consistently entertaining. He has such a strong authorial voice that shines through in all his work - it's clear and distinct, and balances dry and absurd comedy along with character drama so well. So handing him Plastic Man for a Valentine's Day-themed anthology book, DC's Crimes of Passion, is absolutely perfect.

In another moment of serendipity (or just really good editing), he's paired with Mike Norton. Norton is the creator of Battlepug, so obviously he's got a handle on cartooning ridiculous physical comedy.

Podcast network Parcast has announced its slate of new shows for the first four months of 2019, including its first scripted fiction series Mind’s Eye.

It marks an expansion beyond scripted non-fiction fare for Parcast, which is in the midst an impressive growth period. In 2018, Parcast saw a nearly 200% increase in download numbers, to 100+ million across all of its fully-owned audio productions. By the end of 2018, Parcast had 16 shows available for listeners up from five in the previous year, and the network has over 40 new shows in development for 2019. Parcast produces all of its shows in-house and owns all of its intellectual property, and has a full staff of 18 writers and producers, up 350% from this time last year.

Tuesday, July 19th doesn’t boast a ton of new home entertainment choices for genre fans, but as the saying goes, sometimes it’s quality over quantity, and there are a few releases to be more than excited for. Scream Factory has put together a stellar Collector’s Edition release of The Return of the Living Dead and is also bringing Bad Moon home in HD as well.

Mill Creek has two William Castle double features arriving on Blu-ray this week, and Warner Home Video is giving Watchmen the 4K Ultra HD treatment with their new release of The Ultimate Cut, which I know a lot of fans have been looking forward to for a while now.

Some directors deal with thoughts and emotions to drive the story forward, some directors use drama or horror. There are a number of directors who like to use the sex act or sexual overtones to propel the film on. Albeit, some are more blatant in doing this than others.

I have picked nine directors whose work has strong sexual overtones. Directors that are infamous for certain sexy films or sexy scenes. Some directors that are just pervy in everything they do.

We all enjoy a bit of sex to liven things up and here we have sex as a political statement, sex as ribaldry and a part of natural life, sex as an instrument to kill, deprave and corrupt, sex as humour and sex as art.

In a tribute to British filmmaker Ken Russell, who died in November 2011 at the age of 84, a selection of his work is being presented at several London cinemas this month.

Among his credits are 1971's X-rated The Devils starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave; 1975's Tommy, a star-studded smash-hit film version of The Who's rock opera; the 1980 sci-fi film Altered States, adapted from Paddy Chayefsky's novel and providing the feature film debuts of William Hurt and Drew Barrymore; and the 1988 cult classic horror flick The Lair of The White Worm, based on Bram Stoker's novel and starring Hugh Grant.

Four images - all part and parcel of perhaps the most famous scene he ever committed to celluloid which, in this instance, is definitely saying something grand - that seemingly conjure up so much of the universe of peerless British stage and film director Ken Russell. With or without Ann-Margret in a white leather cat-suit, Russells Tommy is one of the most unique and enduring movie musicals of the later half of the twentieth century and his other music-based films provide a plethora of information and insight not all of it factual and much of it often quite admittedly wrongheaded - so, for those alone, Russell is due much praise as far as theatre fans are concerned. Yet, with Women In Love, Russell mastered a quite different milieu - that of Victorian sexual politics - and brought the leading lady of that picture...

Following a series of strokes, British film director Ken Russell died on Sunday at the age of 84. Russell was famed for being experimental and flamboyant with his films which had heavily sexual overtones and often rebelled against the otherwise rigid and subdued tone used by other famed British filmmakers. It earned him the nickname 'The Fellini of the North'.

Russell first came to notice with 1967's "Billion Dollar Brain", the third film in the Michael Caine-led Harry Palmer spy drama series based on Len Deighton's books. Two years later he directed his signature film - an adaptation of Dh Lawrence's "Women In Love".

'Women' scored numerous Oscar nominations and featured the now infamous nude wrestling scene between Oliver Reed and Alan Bates that broke the taboo of full frontal male nudity on camera in a mainstream film.

That lead to numerous films in the 1970's that have since become infamous.

Director Ken Russell, who once seemed destined to enter his family's shoe business, has died after a series of strokes at age 84. Russell served in the British navy before using his talents as a photographer to become a documentary film maker. Once he began making major studio films, they were often steeped in controversy. Russell seemed to have little regard for whether his movies had boxoffice appeal. Instead, he focused on his own creative visions of storytelling. One of Russell's most acclaimed films, the 1970 version of D.H. Lawrence's Women in Love earned him as Oscar nomination and was both a critical and financial success. The films he made in the years after were not as well regarded. His 1971 film The Devils was considered so shocking that it has been censored and cut into various versions throughout the world.

Ken Russell, who has died aged 84, was so often called rude names – the wild man of British cinema, the apostle of excess, the oldest angry young man in the business – that he gave up denying it all quite early in his career. Indeed, he often seemed to court the very publicity that emphasised only the crudest assessment of his work. He gave the impression that he cared not a damn. Those who knew him better, however, knew that he did. Underneath all the showbiz bluster, he was an old softie. Or, perhaps as accurately, a talented boy who never quite grew up.
