New York Nights is a sleazefest of a film, but it's fun sleaze. Supposedly a drama I guess, it's a series of stories, it's characters, associated with ones, in the next, and so on. Whether they're faded hot shot models, sleazy photographers, failed actresses, enigmatic and sexy authors, or egotistical rock singers, there is an too reality about em', not too different from real entertainers in the biz. It's quite an interesting insight really, open nudity and some sex aplus, among a lot of bitchiness, vindication and backstabbing. The prudish rock singer sounds great with some catchy rock songs (one I couldn't get out of my head), as well as getting ousted of a limo in the early dawn by a hottie, once at the top of her modelling game, who's hot to trot. Once she was doing an older photographer who likes to shoot very young models. His one latest teen finding (a girl) very up herself, is of such character accuracy of teen models, I've been witness to, in undertaking various acting courses I've done of past. This movie is no bull, but too, it's all too sleaziness is what brings it down. Featuring a cast of unknowns, except a gay party crasher on went onto become a two time Oscar nominee, who I won't reveal, it isn't badly acted. In one way it's comes off a sleazy soap, where instead of plot we have interconnected stories, with great character insight, but I guess too much of the movie went wandering off in a mire of sex and sleaze, most of it's characters, of who'm, you won't grow fond of. The sleaze is what ultimately discredited it, but still this is an adult feature who you should milk for what it's worth, and with the nudity and sex, there are worse ways you could spend on an arvo. Your choice.
