Ted Bessell and his then-wife Donna Gordon, who was a stripper and then an actress (in John Cassavetes The Killing of a Chinese Booke), worked with Steve Gordon to get this show developed. The show failed; however, Gordon would soon hit the big time with Arthur before his early death while Bessell semi-retired from acting to become a TV-director, and then he also died young.
The plot of a macho ex-athlete and an intellectual woman would soon to be a similar plot of Cheers.
