Unlike what is seen in the film, the actual opening of Tutankhamun's inner coffin was a carefully planned affair. There was never a frantic attempt to open the coffin while Egyptian soldiers and corrupt officials attempted to stop the archaeologists.
In an early frontal shot of the lead on a motorcycle traveling down a dirt road, the front wheel is visible and not moving, revealing that the cycle is on a trailer.
When Tutankhamun is shown unwrapped at the end of the film, the mummy is not that of King Tut (the actual mummy has been photographed extensively and is easily recognizable) nor was there evidence of a mosquito bite on the body to dramatically link to Lord Carnarvon's death.
