Originally an International Version was distributed outside of Asia that features a heavily butchered version of the movie. More than 16 minutes are missing probably to make the film more interesting for the Western market. Due to a growing DVD market the original HongKong Theatrical Version was released in several countries that got once the International Version only.
It's quite interesting that the International Version does feature material that is missing in the HongKong Theatrical Version.
