Although the film was a box-office success in Spain for a children's film, it received dismal reviews and is generally seen as a disastrous adaptation, although it has achieved a cult following over the years. Among other things, the reviews usually criticize that Zipi y Zape's ages were changed from children in the comic book to teenagers in the film, the poor and sometimes surreal plot, the inclusion of several unnecessary songs sung by the twins, or the appearance of characters from popular TV series of the era, like Hulk or Charlie's Angels, which had nothing to do with Zipi y Zape.
The speaking voice of lead characters Zipi and Zape was dubbed by Julia Gallego and Glòria Roig respectively.
Enrique Guevara: voices "Churly", a thinly-veiled parody of Charlie from Charlie's Angels who leads "los Diablillos de Churly" (Churly's imps).
