Despite the fact that John Derek was 30 years older than Bo, who was 16, and married to actress Linda Evans at the time, he and Bo fell in love while filming in Greece, and John and Evans divorced. Bo dropped out of high school so she could remain in Europe with him. Derek said in an interview many years later that her agent thought the relationship was ruining her life and career. He threatened to bring charges of statutory rape against John Derek in California. So Bo and John Derek stayed in Europe until she was 18, then they returned to California, and were married in 1976. They remained together until his death in 1998.
