The film was more or less shot in sequence. The actors would leave the set as their characters got killed.
During an interview with Hysteria-Lives.com actor Timothy L. Raynor, who plays the killer, said he got the role because director Jimmy Huston was impressed with his martial arts skills and his ability to handle a weapon. Raynor said that the knife he wields in the movie wasn't a prop but an actual butcher's knife.
For her audition Cecile Bagdadi was required to give a realistic scream of terror. Her screams were so convincing that not only did she land the role of Courtney, but her screams were dubbed for another actress.
On the DVD commentary star Joel S. Rice said that director/writer Jimmy Huston wanted to avoid slasher movie clichés when he wrote the film by focusing more on the young characters and less on gore and violence.
