Upon leaving the vault at the beginning of Fallout 76, players should first and foremost look for side quests to start immediately in their adventures as a new Wastelander. With so many threats lurking about and with such little on your back, progressing quests early on will help you make allies quickly and obtain useful weapons, gear, and other necessary items to help you survive.
Aside from survival, side quests are also a great way to earn lots of Xp, allowing you to swiftly level up to use better weapons and armor and take on tougher enemies. With all the building and crafting potential in Fallout 76, many quests are essential to complete to gain access to particular building abilities. Follow the list below for the five best side quests to do first.

Patrick Swayze was one of a kind. He’s the only actor I can think of who was as comfortable cutting a rug on the dance floor as demolishing a room full of bad guys with his fists of fury. When he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009, we lost an icon who was never really recognized as the legend he is in his time. In the years since many Patrick Swayze movies have become cult favourites, and with a Road House remake recently a hit, we decided now would be a good time to pick the five best Patrick Swayze movies.
Red Dawn (1984)
John Millius’s cold war “what if” thriller goes down in the history books as the first-ever PG-13 movie. It was also Patrick Swayze’s first major leading role, with him best known up to this point for a supporting role in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders.

Fallout 76 still has bugs, but they are now mostly manageable, and even amusing. The game has become more balanced since its release, but microtransactions remain a constant issue. Fallout 76 has had multiple free expansions, adding new content to keep players busy, although it may not fully satisfy fans of the classic Fallout formula.
Fallout 76 has always had its flaws, but it may finally be worth a shot. It's the sixth (not the 76th) mainline game in the series, and the earliest set in overall franchise continuity. It's raised eyebrows since it was first announced. Many wondered how Bethesda's usual open-world RPG formula, which relies on near-total player freedom and unlimited resource gathering, would translate to an Mmo format. Others were concerned about how the game's stated lack of human NPCs would impact its approach to storytelling.
But, for better or worse, Fallout 76 was released in April 2020 to near-universal critical panning.

It isn’t exactly surprising, because we’re all familiar with fame, Hollywood, and marketing people, but Ronda Rousey news keeps getting weirder, and just won’t stop coming.
The Ufc fighter is now apparently attached to a remake of Road House, the film that has achieved a kind of cult popularity over the years. Though there is something in the area of appreciable, goofy fun to the film, it’s a really bad, potentially career-ending film. With Steel Dawn and Road House hitting very close together, it’s only by the sheer luck that often comes with the inner workings of the industry, often associated with production schedules, that Swayze followed this very quickly with Ghost and Point Break, or he’d have fallen off the map completely.

Next Of Kin (1989) Back in the ’80s and ’90s, films about unconventional heroes taking on the criminal element were everywhere. To make your film stand out, you had to have a gimmick. It wasn’t enough to just toss in a high-kicking, kung fu-fightin’ cop into the standard “loose cannon who doesn’t play by the rules” genre. Van Damme, Seagal, Schwarzenegger, and Stallone were already stomping those roles into the ground, and doing it to big box office. So howzabout a good ol boy, backwoods hillbilly turned big city cop forced to take on gangsters in three-piece suits? Bingo! Of all the ’80s/’90s action stars, Patrick Swayze boasted easily the most impressive filmography of the bunch. Besides the ability to kick ass in films like “Steel Dawn”, “Road House”, and “Next of Kin”, he also had “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” on his resume in the same time period.

Wes Bentley’s post-apocalyptic/sci-fi action flick “Hirokin” popped up on our radar more than a year ago. Directed by Alejo Mo-Sun (never heard of him either), the film looked like the bastard child of Patrick Swayze’s ’80s movie “Steel Dawn”, a personal favorite of mine, even though I readily accept that it’s pretty terrible in many ways. But hey, I’m a sucker for these kind of “lone warrior shows up and protects a bunch of farmers from bad guys” movies. As a result, I took an immediate interest in “Hirokin”. Turns out, the film has already sold to UK-based Signature Entertainment, and Amazon’s UK arm now has the flick listed as arriving on DVD and Blu-ray April 23rd, 2012. That’s tomorrow! So yeah, if you have the same affinity for “Steel Dawn” as I do, or wonder what the gamemaster from “The Hunger Games” can...

Hirokin: The Last Samurai
Stars: Wes Bentley, Jessica Szohr, Angus Macfayden, Julian Sands, Laura Ramsey | Written and Directed by Alejo Mo-Sun
If there’s one reason I love running this website it’s when I get sent movies that I’ve never heard of for review. Sometimes these films are absolutely terrible and in other cases, like with Hirokin: The Last Samurai, they are fantastic hidden gems that deserve to be brought to everyone’s attention.
Set in on a planet where humans must scavenge the post-apocalyptic barren wasteland, the eponymous Hirokin (Bentley) – a reluctant hero with a dark past – sets off on a mission to fulfill his destiny. Having fought to the death to save his wife and son from the planet’s evil dictator, Griffin (Sands), and his elite army of hunters, Hirokin is left for the dead in the desert. From the 70s to the present, we look back through the sterling work of Rutger Hauer to bring you the actor’s 10 finest films that aren't Blade Runner...
For some, Dutch actor Rutger Hauer will forever be associated with a certain rooftop speech about tears in rain. But although his turn as doomed replicant Roy Batty in Blade Runner was a classic one, Hauer’s output before and since has been stunningly prolific. This list, therefore, is designed to highlight 10 of Hauer’s finest non-Blade Runner movies, with a particular emphasis on those that are lesser known – which is why we've gone for some older pictures rather than the more recent and mainstream, such as Batman Begins. And since this is Den of Geek, expect to find lots of action movies, horror, and low-budget sci-fi in the entries below.

Watching Road House is not quite a guilty pleasure of mine; I'm not ashamed to say that I like it for what it is, something mindless, entertaining and absolutely implausible. Law enforcement doesn't seem to exist in the universe of Road House, which makes me suspect that it takes place a couple of states over from where the action in The Dukes of Hazzard is going down.
Patrick Swayze made a lot of really fun popcorn action movies, like this, Red Dawn, Steel Dawn, Uncommon Valor and Point Break. When judged on paper, all of these flicks would seem like they're going to be B-movie losers. With Swayze, they actually rise higher than anyone could have suspected. If only Hollywood knew the power that Patrick Swayze had to make forgettable action films transmutate into movies that you have to watch when you stumble across them on a rainy Saturday afternoon,...

Like our master of the obscure, Todd, I have a major love for ’80s post-apocalyptic shlock, and one of the best (in terms of action, swordplay, and yes, mullets) was Patrick Swayze’s “Steel Dawn”, a film that director Alejo Mo-Sun’s “Hirokin” could have easily been mistaken as a sequel for. Mind you, being that I have a soft spot for “Steel Dawn” and still consider it good stuff even now, this is very excellent news to me. So check out the trailer for “Steel Dawn 2″ — er, I mean, “Hirokin” below, and just maybe you, too, will rediscover your love of desert swordplay. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where Hirokin, a reluctant hero marked by a dark past, must fulfill his destiny when forced to choose between avenging the murder of his family or fighting for the freedom of a people biologically engineered and long-abused by mankind. The film...

Source: FilmShaft - Priest 3D – Review
Scott Stewart’s second feature after last year’s apocalyptic fantasy, Legion, is less a steady progression and, sadly, more of the same. That means strong inventive visuals and poorly handled narrative.
Priest also sees actor Paul Bettany return to work with the director, this time in a much more central role. The religious preoccupations continue too, however, here Bettany is playing an earthly warrior monk instead of the archangel Michael.
The material is based on a Korean comic by Hyung Min-woo but it departs significantly from the source. Its true essence lies in 1980s post-apocalyptic movies and pays homage to the likes of Escape from New York, Mad Max 2, Steel Dawn and any number of Golan and Globus-like actioners. Blade Runner is also heavily referenced.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice star Jay Baruchel talks about acting in mainstream and indie movies, comedy and creating his own film, Goon…
With Kick Ass showing Iron Man 2 how to do comic book movies right, an 80s remake appearing on screens seemingly every other week, and Scott Pilgrim and The Social Network still to come, 2010 is fast emerging as the year that the geek inherited the Earth. And in Jay Baruchel, we may well have our poster boy.
Having spent the last decade turning in great work in small roles (Danger in Million Dollar Baby, the imaginatively named Jay in Knocked Up, a young charge in Tropic Thunder), 2010 has seen him step up to bigger things. He lent his vocal stylings to Hiccup in How To Train Your Dragon, won over Alice Eve in She's Out of My League, and has now landed a top job with Nicolas Cage in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

The ‘80s used to be crowded with movies like “The Book of Eli” – stories about a lone warrior wandering a post-apocalyptic America, fighting tyrannical bad guys and rescuing damsels in distress he stumbles across on his journeys. Those films weren’t really concerned with much more than the basics – get in, get out, and maybe grab a sequel or two. “The Book of Eli”, the first full film by the brothers Hughes since 2001’s “From Hell”, is a throwback movie in many respects, though the film does seem to have some ambitions that those other films never bothered themselves with. When all is said and done, I can’t really tell you with any certainty if Eli’s quest is any more worthy than, say, Max’s in “The Road Warrior” or Nomad’s in “Steel Dawn”. I suppose what you take away from “Eli” will be entirely up to you.

Patrick Swayze was a charming cinematic rogue who starred as Sam Wheat in the romantic fantasy Ghost (1990). He portrayed the murdered lover of Demi Moore, who was able to communicate with his wife through a psychic, played by Whoopi Goldberg in an Oscar-winning performance.
Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, on April 18, 1952. His mother was choreographer Patsy Swayze, and Patrick trained as a dancer in the early 1970s. He made his film debut in the roller-disco flick Skatetown, U.S.A. in 1979.
Swayze earned honorary membership in `the Brat Pack’ with his role as Rob Lowe and C. Thomas Howell’s older brother in the 1983 film The Outsiders. He starred as Jed Eckert, leader of the Wolverines, the young freedom fighters who battled Soviet invaders in John Milius’ 1984 Cold War classic Red Dawn.

Patrick Swayze: 1952-2009

All films buffs have guilty pleasures. You know, those movies that high-minded cineastes love to turn their noses up at, especially critics for The New York Times, people with MFAs in some sort of film-related field, or just plain snobs who refuse to acknowledge anything released on celluloid that doesn’t have English subtitles and at least one reference to death, either as a character or a metaphor (and oftentimes both). Patrick Swayze was the undisputed King of the Guilty Pleasure. From his screen debut in Skatetown, USA in 1979, to his final appearance on television’s "The Beast" as a take-no-prisoners cop, Swayze was an unapologetic good ol’ boy who happened to be a classically-trained dancer, student of martial arts and Eastern philosophy, and possessor of an Iq that was nothing to sneeze at. In fact, he closely resembled Dalton, his character in...

When I first heard the news that Patrick Swayze had passed away at age 57, my first two thoughts were as follows: Point Break (1991) and Donnie Darko (2001). Those were my two personal Patrick Swayze cult classics, the ones I own on DVD, the ones I can watch again, anytime. But the next thing I saw was a tribute on morning television, and the main clips came from Swayze's biggest hits, Dirty Dancing (1987) and Ghost (1990), two films I do not own on DVD and do not particularly care to see again. Then I looked him up and saw a cornucopia of other titles, ranging all over the map, including a bunch of stuff I had never heard of. There were two I reviewed as a critic, the awful Green Dragon (2001) and the very cool 11:14 (2003).

It was a bittersweet bit of kismet last night as I saw the news that Patrick Swayze had passed away as I was perusing the Internet for material I could use in a possible review of Steel Dawn, (aka Post-Apocalyptic Road House) a film I had just recently re-discovered with much of the same glee and cheeky affection that so defined the Swayze canon for me. Indeed, I could say much of the Swayze oeuvre were guilty pleasures, but then again I feel no guilt at my unalloyed enjoyment of so much of his work. In looking back on his career, I'm struck by the fact more so than almost any contemporary actor, Swayze was defined by equal appeal to both the ladies and fellas. I don't know of any woman of my generation who doesn't know...

Those of you following the regular Cinema Obscura posts (all 3 of you) will have no doubt noticed that I skipped last week. There was really no reason for it as I was not busy doing anything else, so I suppose you could say I ’slacked off.’ I am slacker! So bad.. This week, in honor of the late and definitely great Patrick Swayze we will take a gander at Steel Dawn (1987), not to be confused with Red Dawn also starring Swayze. The Basics A lone swordsman named Nomad (now that’s creative) wonders the desert remains of earth after the Third World War in search for revenge. He soon happens upon a fledgling settlement, and falls for a girl and saves the settlers from a bunch of bad people. Yes, very typical post-ap scenario. The Review Ah, but there’s a twist see. Nomad’s weapon of choice isn’t a gun,...

Just because we all knew that his death was imminent, it didn't make it any less painful when Patrick Swayze finally lost his battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday at age 57. Today, you'll no doubt read a slew of tributes to the tough-but-tender Texan's 30-year career, ticking off his steely star turn in 1983's The Outsiders, the smoldering, Astaire-like grace he wielded on the dance floor in 1987's Dirty Dancing, and the heart-breaking longing from beyond that he brought to 1990's Ghost. And don't get me wrong, those are all great films. Any actor would love to have just one film resonate in the culture like any of those did. But to me his career was always more interesting than that trio of hit films suggested. If you dig a little deeper and look beyond the obvious, you'll find several more indelible moments (sometimes serious, sometimes self-deprecating, sometimes deliciously cheesy) that...

In a remarkable career, ranging from The Outsiders to Dirty Dancing, from Red Dawn to Steel Dawn, from Ghost to The Beast, and even To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar-- there are still people who will know him best for this:
See you in the next life, Bodhi.

With the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the 2009 summer movie season has begun. A cursory glance at the upcoming slate of summer releases looks pretty weak this year, but I’m not here to look ahead. Instead, I noticed that we’ve reached the twenty-year anniversary of the “true” summer movie age. Sure, Jaws and Star Wars were the godfathers of the movement, and the close-following summers since that time often saw two or three big releases looking to cash in on the popcorn-munching crowd, but it was 1989 when the summer movie calendar started to become bloated. The large number of crowd-pleasing titles (and bevy of sequels) included the following: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Batman, Ghostbusters II, License to Kill, Star Trek V, Lethal Weapon 2, The Abyss, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and, to a lesser extent, The Karate Kid: Part III. So on the Platinum Anniversary of the summer flick phenomenon,...

This is funny because I recently re-watched the 80s Patrick Swayze vehicle Steel Dawn again and I got to thinking about whether or not someone would ever bring sword play and martial arts back to the sand dunes of the post apocalyptic wasteland. And then lo-and-behold, what do I discover but the concept reel for an upcoming project called Apocalypse Children which features all kinds of martial arts mayhem!
Not much on the story yet but from what I tell it's like a reverse Waterworld where a new generation of post-nuke desert dwellers search for a mythical place called "The Vast Green..." with martial arts.
Perhaps it's fitting that I would think of Steel Dawn here as the film is being developed by Colapsar Entertainment whose films rarely get higher than a 3 rating on IMDb (see Dark Harvest). However they are incredibly fun so here's hoping we hear more from...

Top Ten Movie Mullets There was a time when mullets were cool. It was a magical world of blue-denim jackets, Bob Saget's comedic prowess, and conservatives with some sanity. That world is extinct now. But archeological remnants linger everywhere, the most fascinating of which is the mullet. We find traces of the mullet in photos, TV shows, and movies from this time period known as "The Rad Years." We point and laugh and wonder who would ever ask for such a ridiculous hairdo. Some of us even copycat the mullet as some ironic tribute to a simpler time where looking stupid was looking fine. A few real mullets still exist, hiding in the backwoods, trailer parks, and 24-hour bowling alleys of the once-proud Confederate states. Yet, for the most part, the mullet died about 15 years ago. A slow fadeout. Some wept, some did not. Yet, all of us, secretly or not,...
